Just caught up on this thread, goodness Mexico is really copping it. Two earthquakes so close together, and this one on the anniversary of the '85 quake. :O It is really sad to see people scared and suffering, please take care all. I hope all forum members and their families are safe.

Hello everyone, my mother and brother they live in Puebla, and they were really shaken up but they are OK, so far there have been 29 dead people in Puebla, in downtown Puebla most of the buildings are really old and some buildings got some damages, and i heard in the news that the volcano (Popocatepetl ) is quite..., the only concern is that there might be some after shocks tonight....

I will keep you posted....

Thanks xico,

I hope your family will be able to withstand the consequences well. I actually just read that the popocatepetl volcano has shown signs of an eruption after the earthquake.

Last update I read was upwards of 160 dead as a consequence and it's expected to rise...

Oh jeez! that is a very big volcano, people there should start taking precautions for a just in case scenario with the Popo. Hope there is not going to be a big eruption.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that this happened on the anniversary of the deadly earthquake of '85. What are the odds? 1 in 365. Like the one at the beginning of this month, today there was an earthquake alert before the actual quake - that day because someone made a mistake, apparently, and today because there was a drill on the anniversary of '85. Is the mass unconscious of that country sending a message to itself?

That is an amazing coincidence.

Volcanos over the plates of Cocos and the Caribbean in the Ring of Fire are getting very active. At least in Costa Rica there has been increasing signs of several volcanos waking up lately: Turrialba, Poás, Arenal, Rincón de la Vieja.

An earthquake over 7 degrees in any edifice that is not built to be anti-seismic is very dangerous.

I hope that all fellow members in Mexico and their families will stay safe.

hmmm, for some reason, I think the "message" had not come yet, -as if it had not reach that point- ... even though, after all of this suffering regarding earthquakes in the lasts weeks ...

I've just been catching up with events on TV here. It looks like a terrible disaster that's affected thousand's of people and has caused a high number of casualties. I hope you can stay safe and my thoughts are with you over there.

Was just about to add the same thing. These are horrible situations and I know there are many here from Mexico or who have family and friends living there - hope all are okay and safe!

Glad to know that you are fine mabar! You were in you business? i heard that it felt quite strong in downtown.

Yes I was, and yes, it felt quite strong! we manage to got outside ... but after hearing and seeing videos all day long, it was not that bad, is more terrifying in a building, I had those kind of experiences, and I cringed wile hearing the building groan ...

Supposdely, this is a map from damage/collapsed of the buildings in Mexico City ... _https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1_-V97lbdgLFHpx-CtqhLWlJAnYY&ll=19.434553867784295%2C-99.13303372768252&z=16

add: curious, looks like it formed a vertical line

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - SEPTEMBER 19: A military police guards a building knocked down by a magnitude 7.1 earthquake that jolted central Mexico damaging buildings, knocking out power and causing alarm throughout the capital on September 19, 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico. Just wanted to add a quick message about New Zealand. They have just experienced a 6.1 magnitude quake, this following a five yesterday and a few fours. I skyped my cousin over there, and she is OK, but she said she felt the house rocking and rolling! They get so many quakes there they get kind of blase about it all. She is right on the beach at Otaki, so I worry about tsunamis being generated there.
Thoughts of all the Forumites in Mexico, glad to hear you are all OK, stay safe!
