Earthquakes around the world

Today 32 years ago Mexico lived one of the strongest earthquakes, there was a simulation earlier where the alarms went off and everyone goes out their works, schools, etc in memory of what happened. A couple of minutes ago there was an actual earthquake, but the alarms went off when it was happening.. It was strong, I felt it trepidatory and then oscilatory, news are saying it was 6.8 but we still don't have many details yet. When going out to the street you could see the cars moving and all, it was pretty scary :( We are all safe, just some of my frames in my room fell but nothing major.

We'll see what news says.

The seismic alarm did not ring until the earthquake hit because the epicenter was in a nearby state, Puebla -too close-.

And there has been more than 1000 replicas so far from the last one just outside Chiapas. It looks like something is going on.

Hope you are all well, fellow forum members from Mexico. It does not sound good with the active Volcano nearby which has been quite active in recent years.
From wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popocatépetl
Popocatépetl is the most active volcano in Mexico, having had more than 15 major eruptions since the arrival of the Spanish in 1519.

Glad to know that you are fine mabar! You were in you business? i heard that it felt quite strong in downtown.

Many buildings were damaged and some have collapsed, most of them near downtown:

Yes, that's kind of "normal", and we are out the danger zone if an eruption occurs ;D

This might have been posted already but... this particular video left me in shock:

For all the members in Mexico, please stay safe and be careful. I think we're already talking about upwards of 50 dead and counting.

Yup Alex lots of the videos are really shocking :(

People that where around the streets where buildings collapsed are helping each other a lot, that really is great to see that everyone is being supportive in helping find people..

Sorry it's in Spanish, but now there's 79 dead; 54 in Morelos, 4 in MX City, 8 in Estado de Mexico and 13 in Puebla..

Well, that was something, trepidatory AND oscillatory, first trepidatory for about 20-30 seconds, then oscillatory for some other 30 seconds IMO, and the buildings could have collapsed because of the trepidatory nature of the earthquake.

Found this too:

_https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/mexico-city-earthquake-live-latest-updates-today-news-deaths-damage-df-buildings-magnitude-a7956291.html
The Associated Press has compiled a brief chronology of some of the deadliest earthquakes in Mexico since 1985:

—Sept. 19, 2017: Magnitude 7.1 earthquake rocks central Mexico, collapsing some buildings in heavily populated parts of Mexico City and nearby Cuernavaca, killing dozens just two weeks after another deadly tremor in the country's south.

—Sept. 7, 2017: Magnitude 8.1 quake hits southern coast of Mexico, killing at least 90 people and damaging or destroying thousands of houses and hundreds of schools.

—Jan 21, 2003: Magnitude 7.8 quake strikes western and central Mexico, killing at least 28 people, injuring 300 and leaving 10,000 homeless, many of them in the state of Colima.

—Sept. 30, 1999: Magnitude 7.5 quake kills at least 20 people in southern state of Oaxaca.

—Oct. 9, 1995: Magnitude 8.0 quake near Manzanillo on central Pacific coast kills at least 51 people.

—Sept. 19-20, 1985: Two earthquakes in western Mexico, one magnitude 8.0, kill at least 9,500 people in Mexico City and parts of central and western Mexico, heavily damaging parts of the capital.
The videos in this link are very shocking too. Very sad to see people suffering like this.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that this happened on the anniversary of the deadly earthquake of '85. What are the odds? 1 in 365. Like the one at the beginning of this month, today there was an earthquake alert before the actual quake - that day because someone made a mistake, apparently, and today because there was a drill on the anniversary of '85. Is the mass unconscious of that country sending a message to itself?

I also find it hard to understand how you can have 2 big earthquakes so close to each other in time, yet with different epicenters (Chiapas and Puebla, the second not far from volcanoes). And the aftershock later today of 4.8 was also sourced in a different place too (Oaxaca).

This sort of mirrors the situation in the Caribbean with huge hurricanes one after the other, following almost the same path. It's so bizarre! Is all of this part of what the Cs meant at the beginning of the year with "time to rock and roll" and that these times were what we had been preparing for? On top of the Earth Changes there's politics: US, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela...
