Moderate levels of seismic activity occurred in the past 24 hours. A strong magnitude 5.8 earthquake occurred in the Molucca Sea near the coast of North Maluku, Indonesia. The earthquake was followed by several M4+ and M5+ earthquakes, with a 5.7 being the largest aftershock.​

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake was recorded Thursday night in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Northern Kuril Islands, specialists of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station.
The epicenter of the tremors was located in the Pacific Ocean 155 kilometers south of the town of Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir Island, the source was located at a depth of 63 kilometers.

“An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred on the night of October 24. The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean 155 kilometers south of the town of Severo-Kurilskon the island of Paramushir, the focus was located at a depth of 63 kilometers,” said the agency's interlocutor.
