A good seismic shock, Cannes France.
3 or 4 short strokes as if it was tapping in the walls and after a good shock of 3 seconds.
Quite frightening ... 🥴

RENASS says M3.9

Mag. 3.9 earthquake - 16 km north of Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France, on Tuesday, Mar 18, 2025, at 06:45 pm (Paris time) -

The quake had a very shallow depth of 24 km (15 mi) and was felt widely in the area. The shallow depth of the quake caused it to be felt more strongly near the epicenter than a deeper quake of similar magnitude would Volcanodiscovery

A friend in Labassèr Débat said he felt 2.9 and reacted by leaving the building on a three-second jolt.

I was in bed sleeping and felt nothing of the morning quake and did not sense the aftershock either. 🤨

Colombian Geological Service recorded this earthquake as M6.5 A Tsunami warning was issued which has now been deactivated. So far no aftershocks have been reported, but the energy is expected to move toward southeastern Mexico and northern Colombia as the first possibilities. On March 18 a M 4.8 hit 5 km east of El Salvador and a M3.4 12 km southeast of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The release of energy then happened in Panama.

Almost two years ago, on April 4, 2023, an M6.3 earthquake struck near the epicenter of the M6.2 earthquake. This region can produce M7+ earthquakes.

Another strong earthquake in the North Pacific Ocean near the coast of Alaska.

7.1 followed by 6.4 in Myanmar

M 6.4 - 18 km S of Sagaing, Myanmar

BANGKOK -- A strong 7.3 magnitude earthquake rocked the Thai capital Friday, causing buildings to sway.

Germany’s GFZ center for geosciences said the midday temblor was a shallow 10 kilometers, with an epicenter in neighboring Myanmar, according to temporary reports.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The greater Bangkok area is home to more than 17 million people, many of whom live in high-rise apartments.

Many buildings were evacuated as they swayed in the rare quake.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in central Myanmar, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) east of the city of Monywa. There were no immediate reports of the effect of the earthquake in Myanmar, which is in the middle of a civil war.

● So far a 6.4 aftershock has been the highest magnitude followed by others that exceeded M4+ and of these 4.9 has been the highest magnitude.

● Large cracks are reported to have opened up in the ground.

● Victims

GROK: Reports vary, but the head of Myanmar’s military government reported at least 144 deaths, with some sources indicating higher numbers, such as 163 deaths. Local media and witnesses have reported specific incidents, including at least 20 deaths in Mandalay and additional fatalities in towns like Taungoo (3 deaths from a mosque collapse) and Aungban (2 deaths from a hotel collapse). The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has issued a "Red alert," suggesting high casualties are probable, potentially ranging from 100 to over 1,000, though exact figures remain unconfirmed due to communication challenges and the ongoing civil war.

● Injuries:

GROK: Over 730 people were reported injured by Myanmar’s military leadership, with hundreds arriving at hospitals in Naypyidaw and Mandalay. A doctor at Mandalay General Hospital noted an overwhelming influx of bleeding victims, exhausting medical supplies like cotton swabs.

● Thailand

GROK: At least 4 to 7 deaths were reported in Bangkok, primarily linked to the collapse of a 30-story skyscraper under construction near Chatuchak Market. The exact count varies slightly across sources, with some confirming 3 deaths and others up to 7. At least 50 to 68 people were injured in Bangkok, with rescue efforts ongoing.

● China:

GROK: Minor reports indicate 2 people were injured in Yunnan province near the Myanmar border, with no deaths reported.

According to USGS:
The quake might have been felt by over 134 million people across 6 countries: Myanmar (53.8 million), India (30.8 million), Bangladesh (27.2 million), China (13.3 million), Thailand (8.6 million), and Lao People's Democratic Republic (300,000)

● Material Damage

GROK: Significant destruction, including collapsed buildings such as a mosque, a teahouse, parts of the former royal palace, and the Ma Soe Yane monastery. The 90-year-old Ava Bridge over the Irrawaddy River collapsed, and highways connecting Mandalay to Yangon were damaged, hampering relief efforts. Mandalay airport sustained damage, with ceiling panels falling.

Atmospheric anomalies twere recorded on the 22nd and again on the 24th.
2025-03-22a.jpg

According to SSGEOS via Telegram strong aftershocks in Myanmar are possible in the next few days.

The energy of the powerful earthquake will move through the Hindu Kush and into the eastern Mediterranean (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy) possibly generating earthquakes between M5+ and M6+ as well as into the Pacific (Taiwan, Japan, Kuril Islands, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji Islands region) through the fault system.
