The Cosmic Force
After years of hard work, Moshe Einstein's company, Einstein’s Nails, is the leading manufacturer of nails in the US.
Moshe’s son, Abbie, is now of an age and well trained enough, as Moshe thinks, that he can be left in charge of the family firm so Moshe can take a well-earned vacation.
Before he leaves for three months fishing and relaxation at the lakes, Moshe tells Abbie that he is to take care of the business, but especially he is to oversee the regular full-page colour advert in the next issues of Nails Monthly. 'I'm relying on you, my boy, so do good job!'
So, Moshe is off on his boat, fishing and generally relaxing, when the latest issue of Nails Monthly arrives. With great excitement, he opens the magazine, looking for his son’s work.
To his horror, he sees a full colour picture of Jesus on the cross, looking up to heaven, with nice shiny nails in his hands and feet. Under the picture, the caption reads: ‘They Used Einstein’s Nails!’
Moshe cannot believe what Abbie has done. He immediately jumps on the phone. ‘You ignorant stupid boy!’ he shouts. ‘Have you any idea how much business we will lose because of this?!!’ He calms down a little and says: ‘I am going to give you another chance. I want you to make things right in next month’s issue. Don’t let me down!’
Abbie assures his father that he understands the problem, and will take care of it.
After a few more weeks of fishing, boating and sunshine, the latest issue of Nails Monthly arrives. Lounging on the deck of his boat, Moshe turns the page and screams and swallows his cigar. There, in full colour, is Jesus lying in a crumpled heap at the foot of the cross, surrounded by rusty nails. Beneath the picture runs the caption: ‘They Didn’t Use Einstein’s Nails!’
