'April drop dead date?'

Putin sets ruble-for-gas payment deadline

31 Mar, 2022
Measure will take effect on April 1

Russian President Vladimir Putin has greenlighted ruble gas payments for buyers from countries which placed sanctions on Russia in connection with Ukraine.

Putin signed a decree on Thursday demanding that these buyers open accounts in Russian banks to facilitate the payments.

The measure takes effect from April 1.

If unfriendly countries do not pay in rubles starting from April 1, we will consider this a default on gas contracts, in which case the existing contracts will be scrapped,” the President said.

The move to switch to Russia’s national currency in gas payments was announced earlier this month in response to unprecedented sanctions against country.

That announcement instantly sent the ruble surging from historic lows against the US dollar and the euro, with the Russian currency recovering nearly all its losses since the crisis in Ukraine began over a month ago.

Compared to the parade, this event is new, but it has already become traditional. Events like the "Immortal Regiment" will not allow, in my opinion, so easily destroy memory and thereby rewrite history.
15:04 09.05.2022 (updated: 15:31 09.05.2022)

MOSCOW, May 9 — RIA Novosti. The procession of the columns of the "Immortal Regiment" has begun in Moscow, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
Tverskaya Street in the center of the capital is completely filled, many tens of thousands of people are walking towards Red Square. They carry plaques with images of their relatives who fought in the Great Patriotic War, state flags of Russia, Victory banners.

The father of the Rostov resident who died in Ukraine took part in the "Immortal Regiment"
In addition, people are walking with portraits of the dead participants of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin also took part in the action. By tradition, he walked with a portrait of his father, a front-line soldier. The President talked to a number of people walking, greeted and shook hands with the participants of the action.
People of different ages came to the event, many of them children. Almost all participants have St. George's ribbons tied, many colors. Many have badges on their chests with the letter Z — the symbol of a special operation.
Shouts of "Hurrah!" and "Russia!" roll along the columns of the "Immortal Regiment".

The Immortal Regiment campaign is being held in Russia and abroad. Everyone can go out on the street of their locality on May 9 with a photo or the name of a relative — an army and navy veteran, a partisan, an underground fighter, a resistance fighter, a home front worker, a concentration camp prisoner, a blockade runner, a war child to take part in the march.
You can pay tribute to the memory yourself by bringing a banner with a portrait, name or photo to the Eternal Flame or other memorable place. Every citizen can take part in the action, regardless of religion, nationality, political and other views. The main task of the event is to preserve in each family the personal memory of the generation of the Great Patriotic War.
The first "Immortal Regiment" was held on May 9, 2012 in Tomsk on the initiative of local journalists. Then more than six thousand people took to the central street of the city with almost two thousand photos of participants of the Great Patriotic War. Since then, a community of coordinators from different cities and countries has begun to form.

In 2015, the civil initiative "Immortal Regiment" was included in the Russian federal program of preparation for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory. Then, for the first time, the columns marched through the streets of the Russian capital and Red Square.
Every year the campaign covered more and more states and participants, and in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the "Immortal Regiment" took place online. The organizers received from the participants more than 2.8 million questionnaires about relatives who passed the war, the broadcast lasted almost 20 days, it was watched by about 25 million people around the world.

'Western leaders are paranoid bastards with a lot of complexes.'

Western leaders have many phobias – Lavrov

27 May, 2022
Their neocolonialist policies are driven by delusions of grandeur and a sense of entitlement, Russia’s top diplomat tells RT

Western leaders believe themselves to be exceptional and are driven by delusions of grandeur and irrational fears, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday in an interview with RT Arabic.

“We know that our Western friends have many phobias, many complexes. They have a superiority complex, the infallibility complex, and I believe they also have some paranoia,” Lavrov said.

“Any process that does not include the West, which the West does not control, they perceive as opposition, a challenge to their dominance,” he explained, referring to various regional economic integration groups and organizations that Russia participates in. “It’s high time for them to kick this habit.”

The remarks came as Lavrov defended Moscow’s opposition to the US and its allies, whom Russia accuses of imposing their will on other nations through unsavory methods. The drive to punish Russia with economic sanctions and diplomatic isolation in response to attacking Ukraine, in which Washington wants to enroll the entire world, is the latest example, Russia’s top diplomat said.

“The insolence of the Anglo-Saxon alliance has no bounds, and we find confirmation of that every day,” he said. “The West sends its envoys and emissaries every day to every capital without exception… to deliver ultimatums and to blackmail.”

Russia is pleased to see that most of the nations in Asia, Africa and Latin America are resisting the pressure, Lavrov said. “Those nations don’t want to compromise their national dignity and run around as servant boys doing the chores on behalf of [the West]” he said.

Their attitude is nothing new and is the modern version of European colonialism, Lavrov said. Fortunately, history favors a multilateral future for the world, so Western nations trying to preserve their dominant status are acting against the natural progress of humanity, he believes.

The West’s sense of entitlement to do with the world as it sees fit often has disastrous consequences, Lavrov said. This was the case with Yugoslavia in the 1990s, which was destroyed when the US decided its interests required it, with Iraq in 2003, when the US used false pretexts to invade the country, and with Libya in 2011, Lavrov said.

“Sure, there were authoritarian regimes in both Iraq and Libya, but there were no terrorists there. There was no constant fighting and military provocations,” he pointed out.

“That’s the mentality of the Western states. They believe their security depends on the entire world and that thus they should rule the world,” he added.

The ongoing crisis in Ukraine stems from the same root cause, which is a Western disregard of Russian national security, Lavrov said. It simply ignored for decades Moscow’s objections against the enlargement of NATO in Europe, pushing Moscow towards the military option to curb the threat, he said.

Russia attacked Ukraine in late February, following Kiev’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, first signed in 2014, and Moscow’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German- and French-brokered protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state.

The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force.

A plane mysteriously disappeared in Russia, on the flight to far east.
The ministry said that the aircraft was supposed to land in Yakutia's Kobyaysky district but "did not arrive at the appointed time and disappeared from the radar."
Here is the link:

Then there is this link explaining that the plane crushed at airport due to technical malfunction, but also mentioning previous cases of military planes crushing:

Seems like amount of anomalies is increasing.

The former general director of Rosvooruzhenie, Alexei Ogarev, was found dead in the Moscow region, RIA Novosti reports, citing a law enforcement source.

According to the source, Ogaryovo's body was found in the Balaton cottage settlement on the afternoon of June 16. Previously, the death is not criminal, its exact cause is still unknown.

The Investigative Committee confirmed the discovery of the body of a 64-year-old man in a cottage village in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region, but did not disclose his identity. The agency launched an investigation into the incident.

The Rosvooruzhenie company, after the merger with FSUE Promexport, was transformed into Rosoboronexport. The enterprise is the only state intermediary in Russia for the export and import of all weapons.

Earlier, a retired major general of the SVR, writer Lev Sotskov, was found dead in Moscow .
