Facebook Demands Identification

I was attempting to post an article from SOTT and was told my FB account was locked, to go to FB and log in and follow the instructions.

On this page, a sort of reason is given:

We require everyone using Facebook to use their real name and birthday. This way, you always know who you're connecting with. When we discover accounts that look fake or like they’re using fake information, we ask the owner to confirm that they are who they say they are.

Well, I ALMOST just demanded that they delete my account and to heck with FB. However, maybe that is what they want.

Anybody else being harassed this way? Maybe all of you could write to FB about harassing me because you all know me and know who I am and that I am not a fake account or using fake information.

well, looks like you have been removed from my friend list, I don't see you anymore....
 
Well, I hope that everyone is signed up on google+.

I reckon I must have been getting more friends and followers than they liked.
 
When I tried to find you I got this :

So, even though I don't post stuff that is inflammatory, I'm a threat, is that it?
 
I think they locked your page until you confirm your identity. Ridiculous.
 
yes it looks like that you have been deleted or banned for some time from FB ... probably someone reported you for "some" reason, and probably SOTT have to take care too ... who knows, maybe they get "orders" to take SOTT down ... this is what i got:

yeah, when I try to go to your FB page, I get a screen saying 'page not found' too.

There's a general form here that people might use to contact FB on privacy issues. Something more specific might be out there but they don't make it easy to find.

Here's what I sent:

I'm contacting you regarding your privacy policy, which I think is invasive. A friend of mine who I know is a real person, Laura Knight-Jadczyk, is being blocked because her 'account looks fake or using fake information'. I can attest that this is not a fake account and she is not a fake person. I request that you restore her account. Asking for people's driver's licence or government ID to restore their account is invasive and a social community that seeks this kind of data from it's users is intrusive and I think lacking respect when it comes to privacy. I'm not inclined to continue using facebook if this is the road you're taking.

Me too! And if FB wants my real name and my ID, I'll leave FB for sure.

Then I guess we all come here to the forum.

And maybe peeps ought to let others know that our forum exists just in case... so advertise that fact just in case it is wanted in future.
 
Hmm this is strange...I cannot find you on twitter either. Is that account still active? This has happened to me before but it was through paypal. It was so strange because they had all of my bank information for years and yet they randomly claimed that I needed to send more information or my account would remain locked/suspended.

Well they haven't yet! :cool2:
 
I'll re-use Rennaissance's post and report it too.

We can broadcast it on FB and see if it gets some attention at least (not holding my breath!)

I posted this on my FB page for others to share, and at first FB recognized and hyperlinked Laura's name as usual. As soon as the message was posted, the link was gone. She doesn't exist on FB anymore. :huh:
