Films I like

Sorcerer 1977

For lovers of extreme survival psychological thrillers, I recommend this movie.!

Maybe you will like also to see the first version of the story, "The wages of fear" by Clouzot. A masterpiece.

Thank you so much, Loreta!
I'm very likely to be able to watch the movies you recommended this week.

And maybe the French Connection because I like the actors, Gene Hackman, Roy Scheider, specially the last one. :-D

"French Connection", what a great film. Also I agree about Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider, old-school actors with tremendous commitment to their roles. In "Sorcerer", Scheider is totally believable as an actor. His character's desperation is palpable.

My kids are visiting for the holidays and we have been watching some really good movies. Last night we watched Baltimorons, a gentle, bittersweet and unlikely Christmas love story. It's got everything I like; faces I've never seen, a low budget, but perfect soundtrack and a few one liners to stay through the ages. Trailer doesn't do justice to the soul of this movie.

Bugonia is a reverse alien abduction tale. A conspiracy theorist/bee keeper is convinced that a pharma executive is an alien out to destroy humanity, and so abducts her and demands to be taken to her leaders. Lots of layers to this one. Excellent in every way.

Bugonia is derived from the Ancient Greek words for "ox" (βοῦς) and "progeny" (γονή), meaning "oxen-born." It refers to the ancient belief that bees could spontaneously generate from the carcass of a sacrificed bull. The film opens with concerns for how dependent we are on bees for our food, bee colony collapse disorder, etc.

The story of Bugonia is just a rehash of Save the Green Planet which is far way better, if you ask me, a must see.
