Apparently, the poll this newscast was supposed to be citing was the one done by "Jeff Barge with the assistance of Opinion Research Corp. of Princeton, N.J."
In which those polled were asked who had "done something foolish in the past year."

The numbers shown in the video clip do not seem to correlate with the way the supposed actual poll being cited was done.

On the Fox's Phoenix affiliate newscast they seemed to be showing numbers for some other poll. I went searching around the web on sites like digg and found their comments to be suggesting that the myfoxphoenix dot com website was running their own poll which showed whom their web visitors thought was the most foolish person in the past year... I have not been able to confirm this at their website though..... but in the data, at the time of broadcast, was

Britney Spears 33%
Paris Hilton 12 %
Mel Gibson 1%
OJ Simpson 13%
Pres. George Bush 40%

However this data does not go along with that of the poll they were supposed to be citing.....

the data of the poll they were supposed to be citing was........
prweb.com said:
1. Singer Britney Spears 76%
2. Socialite Paris Hilton 67%
3. Singer Michael Jackson 64%
4. President George Bush 63%
5. O.J. Simpson 60%
6. Vice President Dick Cheney 56%
7. Actor Mel Gibson 56%
8. Astronaut Lisa Nowak 53%
9. Former Congressman Mark Foley 51%
10. Seinfeld comedian Michael Richards 51%
11. Actor Tom Cruise 50%
12. Actress Lindsay Lohan 44%
13. Kevin Federline 41%
14. Scooter Libby 36%
15. Peter Cook 32%
16. Actress Katie Holmes 23%

these percentages are supposed to come from the question: who had "done something foolish this year"
But just the names shown add up to more than 800 %........ so I'm assuming that those polled had a list of people to choose from.. and that they could choose multiple people for having "done something foolish"..........

So it looks like this particular affiliate of Fox news really screwed up... the graphic they showed did not correspond to what they were saying... which would explain the broadcasters' confused deameanor during the broadcast.... if they were looking at the graphic displayed and then realizing what they were saying, that is.....

It does not quite seem that they were blatantly changing who "won" this poll though... more like there was a blatant disregard for representing their information with facts....... which ended up looking like a gigantic screw-up on their part.....

but of course there is the question of how this Opinion Research Corp. did their "research" in the first place....

On looking at their list of names it just seems like a list of "who have you heard about in the news the most recently?"

But I guess the question in my mind regarding this story is whether this was deliberate propaganda or idiocy in the media.... or perhaps some kind of mixture...
