Fred Hoyle conspiracy theory

Reading one of the Russian science conspiracy books (I am mentioning this book in my blog post Crystals of time) I have found a reference to a news conference, apparently given by Sir Fred Hoyle (famous astrophysicist) in 1971. So I tried to verify this information. Have found this on the net:

On May 10,1971, the noted British Astrophysicist and Astronomer, Sir Fred Hoyle called a news conference and made the following, startling announcement:
(1.) “Human beings are simply pawns in a great game, being played by alien minds, which control mankind’s every move.
(2.) “These alien minds come from another universe, one with five dimensions. Their laws of chemistry and physics are completely different from ours. They have learned to shatter theTIME/SPACE barriers that restrict us.
(3.) These super-intelligent entities are so different from us that to apprehend them or to describe them in human terms, is impossible.
(4.) These entities seem to be totally free from any such physical restrictions as bodies, and they are more like pure intelligence.
(5.) They seem to have the ability to be almost anywhere in the universe in a matter of seconds.
(6.) These aliens are everywhere—in the sky, on the sea, on earth. They have been here for countless eons and they have probably controlled the evolution of Homo sapiens. All of what man has built and become was accomplished because of the ‘tinkering’ of these intelligent forces

But I was not able to find anything reliable. The linked file on scribd has been deleted. I would like to know whether I am dealing with truth or with fake news? Have searched the net for an hour - no success. Perhaps we can find what the deal is by joining our forces?

Dug around and can't find a source for that supposed "news conference". I did an advanced search on Google Chrome and found the oldest example of these quotes attributed to Fred Hoyle on an old website from November 20th, 1997: _http://thenewbookoftruth.bigpondhosting.com/myth.html Unfortunately, the author of the website does not cite any source.

I found 1 website denying the news conference occurred, and 5 websites with the same news conference quote from the facebook page.

Dean suggested that a number of academics had been brought into the research after the craft had been found. Dean said that Professor Sir Fred Hoyle had worked as a consultant. Good wrote to Hoyle telling him Dean had said that he was one of the "top brains consulted," and that he, Hoyle, had made a statement to the press on May 10, 1971, that suggested Hoyle believed the probability of extraterrestrial and/or extra dimensional beings.

Hoyle’s response? "There is not an element of truth in this story. There was no statement to the press."

I don't think it is likely that the quote was on that website in 1997 because the website prefaces the news conference quote with the phrase "The late Professor Sir Fred Hoyle" and Hoyle died in 2001.

In the same facebook post, there is the comment:

Professor Hoyle went on to say: “The only reason that I have called this press conference is that no Government on earth would release this information. All Governments fear panic among their people and think that if people knew the truth and knew some alien intelligent force and power is controlling them, that the people would no longer listen to or obey their government."

This quote also appears in comments on a SOTT article by username Rebel.

Interesting man. Had a look at a quick bio version of Fred Hoyle here http://www.biography.com/people/fred-hoyle which does not shed light on the original question, however it said:

He resigned all his positions at Cambridge in 1972 and continued to publish interesting and often controversial theories on various subjects including the idea that Stonehenge was built for the purpose of tracing the orbits of the sun and moon to better predict solar and lunar eclipses. He also argued that Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution was “wrong” and declared that natural selection couldn’t explain evolution. In the 1980s, he co-developed the theory that the origin of life involved cells which arrived from space and that comets helped promote evolution by bringing a steady influx of viruses.

Seems to have had astute observations and thinking. I would not put it past him if he had thoughts along the lines of what was initially described of him saying, ark, perhaps mentioned to colleagues in private; having some thinking on viruses was what caught my attention in the bio.

You might be right here because what he said about his alleged statement sounds odd to me:

to the press[/b]]Hoyle’s response? "There is not an element of truth in this story. There was no statement to the press

What does 'there was no statement to the press' mean? No statement at all or a statement made in private circle but not disclosed to the press?

This might be a lead. I found the same results as others. So far. His Family amassed a lot of his material and turned over St John's (as a repository), with his data for safe keeping I assume.
But the information is locked unless one has membership.

FWIW, I found that this news press is mentionned in the book the The Biggest Secret by David Icke. Maybe it's the root of it all.

I did some digging as well and couldn't find much other than a few archives of his books. It's really kind of strange though because there's kind of an unspoken rule that nothing is ever really deleted from the internet. But that quote seems to have come from nowhere...

So it's definitely a head scratcher

That quote is also used in Jim Marrs book 'Alien Agenda'. However, I couldn't preview that page in the preview on Amazon (page 355), so I don't know if it has any footnotes or references.

Alien Agenda: Investigating the Extraterrestrial Presence Among Us

Fred Hoyle has also written several books, both fiction and non-fiction. I quickly looked at the synopses of each book to see if he talks about the same thing in any of those. The closest he comes to these ideas, as in the quote, was in the science fiction book The Molecule Men:

The Molecule Men
by Fred Hoyle et al.
Link: http://a.co/7g6wn4G
Link (Kindle): http://a.co/b2LIiKs

From one of the reviews:

The Molecule Men" by Sir Fred Hoyle and Mr. Geoffrey Hoyle is a most entertaining read. The main characteristic of the novels written by the Hoyles is that their science fiction generally has tremendous credibility in that they display clear linkages to science fact. However, when we see the villain of the piece, R. A. Adcock turn into a swarm of bees, then, at other parts in the story, into a white Pyrenean dog and afterwards, a white elephant, the reader could well be forgiven for a reaction which entailed the utterance "aw come on!" This expression of disbelief is soon abated when the main character in the story, Dr. John West, explains to Inspector Harrison that chemically a human being can be represented by a bag of coal, half a dozen cylinders of liquid air, a sack full of garden soil and a tank of water. Nature makes the oxygen, nitrogen, carbon and various other minerals into a human being by arranging these elements in the appropriate order. The plan for all living creatures is the genetic code. The materials remain the same, only they are used and arranged in different ways. Adcock represents a creature which has the ability to change its set of genetic instructions and so transform itself into any living creature. After this explanation, we soon ditch our initial "aw come on".

The Hoyles never fail to take a swipe at government and officialdom in their novels, and in this regard, "The Molecule Men" is no exception. The white elephant stomping around London and making its way to Westminster is an obvious metaphor representing the Hoyles' attitude towards the political establishment.

John West eventually discovers that the extraterrestrials have invaded the minds and bodies of the world's main political leaders - the British Prime Minister, The President of the USSR, the President of the USA and Chairman Mau. West explained to Adcock that he and his cohorts' fastening of themselves on to a few key political leaders would not give them the power which they so desired as the real decisions and real momentum for change came much further down the rungs of society. It was this explanation that eventually proved to be John West's undoing for when Adcock realised that West represented the level at which real power lay, West was singled out for invasion and would himself become a molecule man.

ADDED: You can read some of Hoyles more scientific books on archive.org, see: https://archive.org/search.php?query=fred%20hoyle

At the very least, Hoyle seems to have had a lot of interesting ideas!

Haven't found anything yet when searching for the "National Bulletin" or the writer of that article, an "Ed Monk". :( Still searching......

It says that it is reprinted from the National Bulletin from the 10th of May, 1971. Wouldn't such things still be found at national libraries, if indeed it exists as written?

Unfortunately the term 'National Bulletin' is too common a term. Too many returns to sift through. :( Will keep looking...

National Bulletin was a tabloid paper in the style of The National Enquirer but with more sex and nudity. From the sleazy images I found on Google Images, I can't imagine it being sold at the supermarket checkout counter, perhaps it was on a high shelf at the newsagent's.

A sampling of their headlines:

Man Knifes Best Friend in LSD Frenzy
Charles Manson is Illegitimate Son of Adolf Hitler
Sadism and Sex Rites of the Hell's Angels
Dead Beast From Outer Space Found on Beach

Ed Monk may have been a collective pen name used by National Bulletin writers.

I don't know for certain if this is the National Bulletin publication where the article appeared but it does seem a possibility.

I found a reference about this in Colin Wilson's Mysteries: An Investigation into the Occult, the Paranormal and the Supernatural (2006).

But what is the purpose of UFOs? The theories extend from Professor Fred Hoyle's belief that they have been around 'since the beginning of time' and that alien intelligences have 'probably controlled our complete evolution' [2] to the altogether more alarmist view (expressed in books with titles like The Flying Saucer Menace) that UFOs are the advance guard of an armada of alien space crafts that will take over the earth.

The footnote for that quote:

2. At a press conference on May 10, 1971, reported in the National Bulletin. It is discussed in an article by Otto Binder, 'UFOs Own Earth', in Saga magazine for December 1971.

That back issue of Saga magazine is for sale on several websites.

Hi,

there is this video about the recent space weather and earth changes, where at minute 1.33.29 there is the quote Ark asked about.
on the screen it is mentioned that it is taken from Jim Marrs book, Alien Agenda.
