Hello everyone,
Considering the predictions for a major N.American earthquake, and as the west cost of the USA is resting on the so called "ring of fire", i thought i should do some search for the nuclear power facilities in the region in order to see what we might have to deal with in the future... This is a map of the nuclear power plants in the US:
Amazingly, plants on San Onofre and Diablo Canyon (both in California) seem to be built right next to sea too... :O
San Onofre:
and Diablo Canyon:
and some info on that:
Also some info i found on the overall energy infrastructure in the West coast:
So, in case an major earthquake does happen in North America, pictures at least show west coast US reactors having no protection that could withstand the power of tsunami waves...
Plenty of oil refineries and magor natural gas lines as shown in the above graphs make the picture darker... Let's all hope for the best.
P.S Information was obtained on _http://cryptome.org/eyeball/npp/62npp-eyeball.htm

Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant located South of Morro Bay, Calif. is shown in a May 1995 photo. Owner Pacific Gas and Electric will have to pay a $14 million fine for environmental reporting problems at the plant. At the lower left of the photo is the water outfall from the power plant into Diablo Cove. The plant pumps 2.5 billion gallons of water for cooling each day.
....
The Sierra Club has sued the Bush administration, alleging the federal government has failed to address security risks at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant on the Central California coast.
