Gravity Hill

My supervisor Mr. Johnson is taking a vacation next week and he tells me that he’ll be visiting this place in Pennsylvania called “gravity hill" (after he takes a Brewery & Distillery Tour in Pa where they make beer). Well anyway, I don’t know anything about these “gravity hills" but here’s the place:

He’s gonna bring a level to the place and do his own "investigations" because the guy’s a skeptic and he doesn’t believe in all that "crazy paranormal stuff" (hopefully he’ll be sober when he gets there).

I'd be curious to know what he finds out. Also check out this thread: http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=5074

:)

I would be curious to know also. We have a similar 'gravity hill' in Texas.

A level may not work because if the gravity is indeed shifted, it will make the level look as if the hill is downhill. I guess the only real way to see the angle of the hill is to use GPS to measure the altitude of both sides of the hill and see if the top is really the top!

At this link they used a GPS and a tripod-mounted laser beam to analyze this “phenomenon."

But I think my supervisor is of the opinion that a pint of beer, wobbly legs, and a super el cheapo level from Sears will work even better.
(Dang it, I can’t find a slightly inebriated smiley face thingy in the selection).
So I guess this will have to do.

=)

Just to let you know that my supervisor got back from the Bedford PA gravity hill visit and he was quite amazed. He forgot to bring his level but when he got there he said that the hill definitely looked like it was going upward to him. When he put his car in neutral he was amazed to see that it started moving up the hill and then began to accelerate up to about 5-7 mph until he got to the “top” of the hill, at which point the car stopped. He tried it several times and was amazed each time and he is totally befuddled over it. It’s a mystery to him and he says it sure didn’t look like an optical illusion when he was there.

Well anyway, I asked him if he might have brought back some anti-gravity rocks, dirt and stones from the road so I could put it in a big ole bucket and tie it the fender of my car and be amazed as my car flitted, zipped and zoomed up and down hills without the need of gas. But alas, to my disappointment, he didn’t bring back any anti-gravity rocks. (The head of our department Mr. Sing was not interested in anti-gravity but he was most disappointed when my supervisor didn’t bring back any beer from his visit to the brewery)

Well there ya go, that’s a quick summary of my supervisors most excellent adventure. :)
