Happy birthday to Laura!

Meh, another Aquarian. Been residing insise one of those for 43 years tomorrow. A new agey, flakey, highly opinionated body platform, in my own (if I said humble, I'd be plain lying) experience.

Happy birthday though!

What?! Being an Aquarian is great, no one thinks like us. It’s a blessing. We have to learn to use it wisely.

Jules Verne, Abraham Lincoln, Charles Dickens, Mozart...

Happy birthday Laura

Speaking of peacocks, in Russian (and broader Slavic) folklore, there is a famous symbolic character called a Firebird (Жарптица). Here is an article from Wikipedia in English: Firebird (Slavic folklore) - Wikipedia

And here is the relevant article in Russian: Жар-птица — Википедия

The Firebird is believed to be able to see the future. In Russian art the Firebird is usually depicted as a peacock shining in the darkness:

Reminds me of the "Chinese Phoenix", the mythical Fenghuang bird Fenghuang - Wikipedia

The fenghuang has very positive connotations. It is a symbol of high virtue and grace. The fenghuang also symbolizes the union of yin and yang

Also during this period, the fenghuang was used as a symbol representing the direction south. This was portrayed through a male and female facing each other. Their feathers were of the five fundamental colors: black, white, red, green, and yellow. These colors are said to represent Confucius' five virtues:

  1. Ren: the virtue of benevolence, charity, and humanity;
  2. Yi: honesty and uprightness; may be broken down into zhōng, doing one's best, conscientiousness, loyalty and shù: the virtue of reciprocity, altruism, consideration for others
  3. Zhi: knowledge
  4. Xin: faithfulness and integrity;
  5. Li: correct behavior, propriety, good manners, politeness, ceremony, worship.
The phoenix represented power sent from the heavens to the Empress. If a phoenix was used to decorate a house it symbolized that loyalty and honesty were in the people that lived there. Or alternatively, a phoenix only stays when the ruler is without darkness and corruption (政治清明).

The head represents virtue (德), the wing represents duty (義), the back represents propriety (禮), the abdomen says credibility (信) and the chest represents mercy (仁)

In some traditions it appears in good times but hides during times of trouble, while in other traditions it appeared only to mark the beginning of a new era

All very apropos (except 'Confucius virtue No.5 Li: - "worship")

I wish you too a very Happy birthday, may your mission be successful but in a sens, it has already been :-D
When you think about it, what you accomplished so far, is simply astonishing and incredible.
Congratulations and thank you very much to be still out there ;-)

Very interesting! And there's also this, from The Cassiopaea Experiment Transcripts Vol. 4:

“Both the peacock and the ibis were objects of veneration because they destroyed poisonous
reptiles
which were regarded as emissaries of the infernal gods. Because of the myriad of eyes
in its tail feathers the peacock was accepted as the symbol of wisdom, and on account of its
general appearance it was often confused with the fabled phoenix. There is a curious belief
that the flesh of the peacock will not putrefy even though kept for a considerable time. As an
outgrowth of this belief, the peacock became the emblem of immortality because it is
incorruptible
.
“The solution in the alchemical retort, if digested a certain length of time, will turn into a red
elixir, which is called the universal medicine. It resembles a fiery water and is luminous in the
dark. During the process of digestion, it passes through many colors which has given rise to it
being called ‘the peacock,’ because of its iridescence during the periods of digestion.”

The Persian phoenix "Simurgh" has a direct reference to peacocks Simurgh - Wikipedia

The word was lent to Armenian as siramarg (սիրամարգ) ‘peacock’.

I'm also of the thought that the Kazakh phoenix the "Samruk" bird derives from "simurgh" (or other way round?) of which its golden egg sits at the heart of Astana (and Illuminati conspiracy theorists wet-dream) atop the Tree of Life - the "Baiterek Tower": Baiterek Tower - Wikipedia
