Health & Wellness Show OCT. 16, 2015: A conversation with Dr. Jack Kruse

theos

The Living Force
Today we'll be joined by Dr. Jack Kruse. Some of you know him, some of you love him, some of you can't understand anything he writes about on his monster blog, jackkruse.com. He burst onto the paleo scene years back with his Leptin prescription and his cold thermogenesis protocol. During his day job as a neurosurgeon he gets into people's heads and spines and for his side job he busts your brain open with his encyclopedic knowledge of the workings of the human body, circadian rhythms and quantum biology. We'll cover diet, workings of the mitochondria, the importance of sunlight, water and oxygen and how to biohack your body and environment for optimal function.

Join us Fridays at 10AM EST.

This one is timely. The whole summer my "cold" showers felt "luke cold", and I have been nowhere near shivering. And I'm not one to carry a bag of ice with me in the bath tub. It's October and I'm getting pretty close to shivering with the colder water. So looking forward to this podcast.

Man, Dr. Kruse was a great guest, and Tiff did an awesome job interviewing today. I'd encourage everyone to listen to today's show when you get the chance! :) The audio in the beginning is a little choppy, but hang in there, it cleared up as soon as Dr. Kruse called back in.

Thanks for the links! It was a great show, packed with information. He is like a talking encyclopedia and it will take listening a number of times and reading background information to grasp it all. So glad you were able to get him on the show!

Yes, thank you for the show - I'm listening now. The energy and info is great! Keep up the amazing work you all.

The interview was excellent and the information was very interesting! He's very smart and really funny fellow. You all had some great questions, too.

I look forward to you guys having him on again.

This show was REALLY interesting and possibly heralds a change in paradigm for alternative health community types. I would recommend everybody have a listen and I hope you can get him back on at some stage. He takes health in a completely different and fascinating direction.

Really cool show guys, he seems to have lots of good information and you did a good job interviewing.

Unfortunately I missed the live version, because I had a few questions:

What about the moon?
What about those of us who live in places with 8 hours of daylight where we have thick cloud and rain all day?
Can tanning beds be an effective source of UV for the purposes he describes?
Is F.lux effective?
More details about best seafood sources of DHA? How much does cooking fish degrade DHA?

I read the transcript for this show that was posted on SOTT today. Thanks for the great interview and making the transcript! I'll be going through the links in the coming days.

Carl, that's a really good question about DHA degradation from cooking, especially.

Good questions, Carl. Maybe we can ask some of these questions if we ever get him on the show again for a follow-up. As for the cooking of seafood and the degradation of DHA, as I understand it, if you don't overcook the fish, ie. it's still juicy on the inside, the DHA/EPA remains intact. Overcooking fish, having it "well done" as it were, does damage the omega-3s. But apparently, even doing things like fish stew will keep much of the omega-3s in the broth, and a bone broth made with fish bones, and especially fish heads, is quite rich in omega-3s.

It would be interesting to hear Jack Kruse's take on this, though, because his take on the "degradation" of DHA is different from what I've come across in the past. I wonder if it's just the molecular distillation process that fish oils are put through that changes the DHA, as he was saying, or if standard cooking processes would do the same.
