Meteorologists said an amount of "rainfall normally seen in a one-month period" hit the city in just a couple of hours. Doğan News Agency reported it was the most severe rainfall in the past 32 years, with 128 kilograms (282 pounds) of rainwater hitting some districts on the European side of the city. Average rainfall for July so far was 32.5 kilograms per square meter. The flash floods also hit northwestern provinces of Çanakkale, Tekirdağ and Balıkesir provinces.

I think no one has expected this much in July.

The twitter account of a Turkish meterological monitoring base (_meteogreen.com) posted the following "lightning image", stating that "6726 thunders/lightnings were recorded in the last 2 hours in the northwest."

Yikes! :scared: Hopefully no one was seriously hurt (only inconvenienced, I suppose). I don't see anything about any casualties, thankfully.

You are right, no casuality that I'm aware of for now, thankfully, only a great material and moral damage for many. And officials say a worse rainfall is possible soon.

A few minutes ago in a Turkish news site, I came across a news report about a blizzard on Mount Olympus in Greece.

www.azinlikca.net/yunanistan-bati-trakya-haber/item/7180-inanilmaz-temmuz-ortasinda-yunanistan-a-kar-yagdi.html

A Greek website is cited as the source for it, and I think that, based on google translation, the following two links in that website relate to this:

http://www.larissanet.gr/2017/07/16/prognosi-arnaoutoglou-gia-chionoptosi-ston-olympo-ti-deftera/
http://www.larissanet.gr/2017/07/17/chionothyella-ston-olympo-agonia-gia-ton-oreivati/

I think that the first report mentions a weather forecast by an expert and the second one seems to state that the forecast was on the mark. But I can't be very sure about the content and the authenticity of the report.
