How to Use the New Signs Page

Hi Scott--I registered on the Sott page a week or two ago and things were working fine, but since yesterday morning I am not being allowed to sign in and keep getting the "your powers are weak . . ." message. Why was I able to successfully sign up and use the login feature for several days and now as of yesterday, it won't let me login? I am doing the same thing when I login.
thanks

I deleted your account several days ago because the verification e-mail sent to the e-mail address you used was bounced back to us with a "user unknown" message. For some reason, the bounced verification e-mail took forever to get back to us.

Now the sign-up system is more automated, and you will unfortunately have to sign up again for a new account. This time, you won't be able to sign in or do anything unless the e-mail successfully reaches you, and you click the activation link. If the activation link isn't clicked within a certain period of time, the inactive new account will be deleted.

These measures ARE pretty annoying, but we have been the target of some nice "spammers" in the past who seemed to abuse our sign-up forms. Normally spam is advertising, but in our case the majority seemed to be someone signing up with bogus names and e-mails and/or probing for weaknesses.

I guess the "problem" is that our readership is expanding! ;)

Hi Scott,

This is a very basic question, and you'll probably think I'm really dumb, but could you please explain the function of the coloured logo buttons at the bottom the Signs page? I'm fairly new to all this techno-gizmo lark, so I'm a it wary of pressing them in case my computer blows up or something.

Many thanks.

just one suggestion pertaining to the styles for the new forum - imo, adding about ten or fifteen pixels padding to the quote boxes would make things a bit easier to read. the quote boxes on the old forum were nice, as they had some extra padding & margin space to delineate things... it's a nitpicky detail but i thought i'd throw it out there.

edit: whoops! i mean to post this in New Forum Layout Surprise...

Yeah, good idea. How's it look now? :D

Hello,

I just wanted to post two things about the new forum (which I prefer over the old one.)

- Will there be a Banned profile again ? I think it is usefull as a reminder when reading or re-reading the posts.

- I am confused about people changing their nickname :|, which is of course a nice thing to do when you typed a nickname mechanically and that you regret afterwards (oh and yeah I thought a lot about mine :D).
It would be great if there was some track of old versus new names.
In a way it forces me to discard the posters "aura" and focus even more on what they are saying ;)

My two euro cents on the matter.

Hi,

I was wondering why there isn't a link to red pill press UK on sott's home page, or the QFG homepage. I think it would be a good idea since the UK store is probably better for European readers. It is for me since I can use my visa electron. I'm happy to say that after finding the link in a forum thread, I have successfully placed my order for 'The Wave 5 & 6'

:scooter: Hmm, not sure how to make this guy go....

Good question. I think it's because on the RPP homepage, their are links to the separate RPP sites(UK, EU, US). If anything, their should be a link somewhere on SOTT for RPP, not just the QFG Bookstore, based on what you write about the convenience of using specific sites for purchasing books.

I would like to read articles offline, but the printing layout is not usable. I'm using Firefox 2. Its the same in IE6. Would it be possible to create better css layouts for printing?
