Amen. A supply of food too, canned or whatever you need. And maybe a Starlink kit? Apparently it's around $100 for one. There's still a lot of people stranded and needing rescue along the NC mountains. I feel pretty lucky here in Winston-Salem to only have suffered a few downed limbs compared to the catastrophic destruction I am seeing in and around Asheville. Some of the smaller mountain communities may never recover. I kind of wish I had proceeded with a SAR certification so I could assist but I couldn't even get over Black Mountain (Interstate 40 East of Asheville) due to the landslides if I tried. I've already had to postpone my beach trip this year due to the tropical cyclone that swamped the coast. NC has taken a beating in the last 30 days and has made me want to reevaluate my preps. Communications like ham or 2-way radio, water, and power backups seems to be of utmost importance when the tech infrastructure fails.
As of today, October 4th, the death toll from Hurricane Helene, as reported in MSM, is 215, with "half those deaths occurring in western North Carolina."Amen. A supply of food too, canned or whatever you need. And maybe a Starlink kit? Apparently it's around $100 for one.
AP reports the death toll from Helene has shot up to 121, and that another 600 people are "missing."
Youtubers who live in and around Asheville say the city is destroyed, and that nothing even remotely like it has ever happened there before.

Yep. I have friends in north Asheville who didn't get flooded at all.The claim that "the city is destroyed" was obviously an exaggeration. There are areas of the city that have been badly hit (Bitmore village for example) but far from the whole thing.
I'm seeing reports here and there that speculate the storm was seeded in some way to make it more extreme then it should have been. We see this extreme flooding happening all over the world which is part of the planets natural cycle but its also possible weather modification is being used to exacerbate the situation especially in the US. I expect there will be a lot of talk about this going around.I’m just gonna leave this here.

Interestingly, U.S. weather modification efforts during the Vietnam war were revealed as part of the Pentagon Papers.During the Vietnam war, the Americans launched Project Popeye, a secret mission to seed the tops of monsoon clouds and trigger phenomenal downpours that would wash away the Ho Chi Minh Trail used for ferrying supplies
For five years Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were sprayed during the monsoons, and military intelligence claimed that rainfall was increased by a third in some places. It only came to an end in March 1971 when [Washington Post] journalist Jack Anderson exposed the project and caused such a public furor that the UN general assembly approved a universal treaty banning environmental warfare.
But the US air force planners recently came up with new proposals to launch new weather weapons. Instead of silver-iodide, the idea is to shower fine particles of heat-absorbing carbon over clouds to trigger localised flooding and bog down troops and their equipment. Lasers on aircraft would also trigger lightning onto enemy aircraft, whilst other lasers could be fired at fog to clear a path over enemy targets on the ground.
Whether or not they work, past experiences tell us to be wary of tampering with the weather. In 1947, meteorologists tried to kill off a dying hurricane out at sea by seeding the clouds. The following day, the hurricane suddenly gathered strength, swung round and hit Savannah, Georgia causing extensive damage. The weather boffins were so rattled by the disaster it was not until August 1969 that they dared try again.
When Hurricane Debbie was 700 miles out at sea, they flew three seeding missions around its eye, where tropical storms are at their most intense, but the results were mixed – with each seeding the hurricane’s winds were reduced and each time they picked up again.
Athens in the state of Georgia (GA), USA. For those of us not familiar with all the state codes. I had to look it up also.Take care all of you amid this frightful event, I hope the power doesn't go out and the damage is minimal.
Forgive my lack of knowledge regarding Florida's geography, but is there a city named Athens out there? Also, strange times indeed when Helene comes back to Athens!
I've seen posts that claim when you ask Alexa if the government seeded the clouds to make it rain more and direct the hurricane, it says yes (or something like that) but I find that hard to believe considering who's behind Alexa.I'm seeing reports here and there that speculate the storm was seeded in some way to make it more extreme then it should have been.
