While it is true that language was once full of contextual richness and greatly engaged the creative side, it became more and more sequencial and phonetic in the Western world. McGilcrest writes about this transition in ancient Greece
"The adoption of an alphabet reintroduced writing into a world which had lost it. And once writing was within the grasp of all, it became not only an instrument of command but a tool of trade, of communication and often of demystification … As for currency, the need for it had been felt before it appeared … It was in about 685 BC that authentic money (coins made of electrum, a mixture of gold and silver) appeared for the first time in history in Lydia, the rich realm of Croesus … But most specialists think that a true monetary economy was not in place until the fourth century BC and the achievements of the Hellenistic..."
In short it language became about power, like Promethius, ursurping fire, and claiming its creative potential (the emmissary over the master).
He says nowadays, even non-western languages that are more creative and being oriented are proccessed by modern speakers in the left hemisphere.
I've been thinking about that, about how my contexualized relationship with reality has atrophied (because if you don't use it you lose it).
And also, in terms of artistic expression and inner work, how can I communicate in a language that is fun, free, expressive, and doesn't devolve into tragic games of power. How can I go into the muck but actively build the muscles of being.
Something that communicates in metaphor and humor.
Well someone really cool was doing it with memes.
Yes I know the C's do that with superluminal communication. And we comminicate here on varieties of topics.
But I was just thinking of of fun, humorous metaphors and memes to facillitate creative expression, feeling, and inner work.
Well this is refreshingly a way.
