I cannot understand this....

I've been aware of all the hoo haa surrounding it. I suppose the best thing about it is that it makes a change from worshipping sports stars however brief that will be. The catholic church is jumping on it as it needs all the good press it can get.

Mary MacKillop was a decent person who happened to be a catholic. As for being the first australian feminist, I don't agree, she's was, above all, a decent person and stood for what was right against. If she had been born a century later she may have been a 'feminist' and possibly would have been ponerized by the movement or, more likely marginalized the by the psychopaths within it.
 
The Australian Catholic Church (Mary McKillop's order) have been trying to make Mary McKillop a Saint for years now. I've been thinking that maybe this has finally been done so that the people's faith would be energised to come back to the church, as the newspapers from time to time have reported that most Australians are now turning away from religion.
