You are the first to know that I have adopted a new Belgian Shepherd. I found him at the south of Spain in a Spanish organization twin with a German association that take care of dogs that need new homes. This dog is now presently in a family till the 28 when I will go to fetch him up in Madrid. He is not young, he is around 8 years, have suffered a lot and now he will part of my family. I am very happy to be able to take care of a Belgian Shepherd because I feel very connected with them. This is the picture of him with the name of the German association.

Cool Belgian Shepherd, love him - good on you! :)

Ditto. I think he is gorgeous and has friendly eyes, as far as I can see.

You know of the homeopathic 'Ignatia', don't you, which helps dogs to heal. I have given it to my dog for a second time and her nightmares are decreasing, she is more affectionate and so on. It really helps. I have also found through my vet what is called a dog interpreter (not a dog whisperer) and she was wonderful. I have never seen my dog respond to a (human) being that way. It was amazing. It seemed as if she felt very grateful, because she licked the hands and the pulses of the lady. There was this special connection between them. The lady also tried to work with dishes made of several kinds of metal, but my dog wouldn't have it. Apparently, she can heal animals and human being with sounds. FWIW.

That's really nice to hear loreta. And I'm sure he's found a very good family now with you

Good on you, and him, indeed, loreta! :)

May I say I was only waiting (=expecting) for you to announce a new family member some time soon? ;) In any case, good to hear, and my best wishes to the two of you. :flowers:

This is just wonderful. I am very happy for both you and your new companion. And he's such a handsome guy. :)

Hi loreta.
Indeed he is a handsome boy! Congratulations! What`s great too is that you are adopting an older dog. A lot of older and most loving dogs get overlooked at rescues/shelters. I know you must be excited for your new member to join you!

There is also a homeopathic remedy called rescue remedy to help calm and heal our four legged friends.

Good Luck! :D

Thank you very much for your wishes. I will give him Ignatia Amara, thanks for that tip. And I know the Rescue Remedy, I am always taking it for myself and I will bring it the 28 for Blacky. I know that this dog will never replace Laika, that I miss her very much. But to save another "brother" of the same tribe of Laika is something very important for me. I am thinking also that saving a dog (or a cat) is saving a little part of ourselves, a little part of our hearts that are bleeding in this so violent world. And seniors dogs are saviors, specially if they had a difficult life. This dog was beaten and they find him lost in the city. He was very lucky to find good people that took care of him. Now he is living with the director of the German organisation, with other dogs and cats and a family that love him. He will be very love here also. I hope that my love for him will give him strength and courage and joy! that will give him also confidence and the possibility to give love also. :)

Loreta, this is wonderful news. What a lovely dog! Older dogs, especially rescued, ones are so grateful to have a home! They truly appreciate all the goodness that is offered to them because of the suffering they went through. I am so happy for both of you.

Congrats Loreta! It is awesome that you adopted a grown up. I often wonder how many of the puppets adopted go back to the street once they grow.
Adults are much easier to teach, and you don't need to suffer the teething period where puppies chew on basically anything.
Belgian shepperds are really smart. My aunt's belgian Satiro was one of those family legend pets we still talk about and remember with a smile in our faces, even when he passed out over 20 years ago.

Congratulations, he is a beautiful boy! He will be very happy to be loved by you and your family. :)

So glad! You've found such a great way to fill the "void" and very courageous because adopted dogs that old are not so easy to restart a life with, I've had some pretty bad experiences in the past with dogs from shelters. I wish you the best with him! :)
