I would need some help for my father please.

When I enter my debit card number, a "visa" icon appears (as if it were a visa credit card) so I'm just not too sure. I mean, I don't want any problem with my bank or amazon.

You think I should just give it a try? I guess they'll tell me right away if anything is wrong right? So that I don't have a bad surprise?

Sorry, I don't want to sound paranoid but the last thing I need right now is a problem with my bank.

Thanks.

EDIT: I need to go out for a while so I'll be back in about 20-30 minutes or so.

Oh!

I've made a bit of research and apparently, the visa symbol I see is 'visa debit' and not 'visa credit'.

So everything should be fine.

I'll go on amazon.com and see if it works there as well so I can get all three books at once to save on shipping costs.

Can't order from amazon.com. Apparently the books can't be delivered here.

What I can do is order PBPM and LWB right away from amazon.ca and try to find DoD elsewhere.

There are many online stores from which I can buy it so I'll check for prices, payment methods and delivery.

You can in the US; don't know about Canada.

JayMark, you'll find here some excerpts of Detoxify or Die which have to do with Far Infrared Sauna:

There is an Insurance Company Letter which makes the case for the cost-effective coverage of a sauna device compared to other options.

Yes!

I have seen a few links of the kind yesterday. This one is definitely worth it. It covers a very good point.

Don't know about the insurance though. We live in Québec and he's on unemployment right now. We have free health care but I don't know if this could be at least in part covered. I suck at those things as well. Maybe his doctor would know that?

I'm wondering because money is an issue for him. A whole system is quite expensive although a FIR blanket is roughly 10 times less expensive.

Anyhow, I'll definitely check what are his options because this seems to be a fantastic method of detoxification.

Thanks.

Usually the Ministry of Health or whatever it's called in your country would have web pages listing the entitlements you can lay claim to, as well as all things you're NOT entitled to.

Another possibility would be looking for a website of a randomly chosen workers union which could contain similar information.

Hope this helps a bit.

Well, I've received an e-mail from amazon.ca today telling me they are unable to process my order with the debit card. And I can't order from the USA either.

The problem is I don't have a credit card and since I still own them money, I can't get another one. And they don't accept paypal.

Does anybody have an idea about what I could do? Or know about a virtual library that accepts debit cards and/or paypal for Canada (Québec)?

Thanks.

I'm really confused and slightly irritated by this situation.

Here's what they say on amazon.ca:

"Amazon Currency Converter allows you to pay in your local currency when purchasing eligible items from the Amazon.ca website and using an eligible Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card denominated in supported currencies."

So it looks like my order placed by a Visa debit card in Canadian dollars didn't work.

The worst is that when I entered my debit card number, amazon.ca recognized it as a Visa debit card (hence why I thought it was all good) but it seems like it still doesn't work (there's well enough money in my account so it's not that either).

I guess it might be because my bank isn't actually a bank. It's a cooperative (Caisse Populaire Desjardins). But the debit card is a Visa though.

So anybody has a clue?

Thanks again.

I don't have a clue but I can tell you that your caisse pop is like a bank and is not anymore a cooperative.

Have you tried contacting Amazon and asking them why your card isn't working? A debit card with a Visa logo should function essentially as a credit card (slightly different from your end, but essentially the same from their end), so I don't see why they would be rejecting it (though obviously they can come up with all sorts of reasons).

If you're trying to order books, you could check the canada ebay site and see if they have what you're looking for.

I see. Well it shouldn't really matter for them (amazon) anyways. Interesting to know nonetheless.

That's the weirdest thing. I was about to contact them actually. I have just gone through the help section and all the info and I don't see why it shouldn't work. My debit card is a Visa debit and has the Visa debit logo on it, just as amazon.ca recognized when I added this very card without any problem.

So I'll contact them as soon as I send this message.

That's an option indeed. Will check.

Thanks guys.

Hi JayMark. I'm just catching up with this thread, but have a suggestion on getting "Detoxify or Die". They sell it at the health food store I work at called The Big Carrot in Toronto, and the store does mail orders. I'm not certain they mail to Quebec, but you can give them a call and see if they'll send you the book. And I think (not positive) that they take payments via Paypal. If not, your Visa debit should work. If none of these options work, maybe we can work something out where I buy the book and mail it to you and you reimburse me via email money transfer (pending mod approval, of course).

Here's the website where you can contact the store - http://thebigcarrot.ca/

Thanks. I will check that.

But I just have figured out the issue by an amazing coincidence. A friend of mine who has worked in finances for years (and is an expert in the area) appeared out of the blue at my door and during the conversation, I asked him about my issue and he told me my debit card isn't actually a Visa debit (the logo isn't on the actual card). I got fooled by seeing "Visa int." at the back and the fact that amazon recognized it as a Visa debit with my number.

So no, just a plain ol' regular debit card. :(

Anyhow, I won't give up so easily don't worry! I still have paypal! Just no credit-anything.

Peace.

Ah, now everything basically makes sense. Another thing that occurred to me is that you could probably buy one or more amazon gift cards on ebay using paypal and buy from amazon in that rather roundabout way.
