Hi guys,

I was thinking with all the knowledge this forum has collected regarding diet we could maybe create a video guide on healthy eating by using the existing material this forum has discussed and collected. The purpose of this guide would be to provide an excellent overview of in depth information regarding food.

The idea is as follow:

The video series should be split up in short videos of no more then 5 minutes. It should be 5 minutes in order not to overwhelm the viewer with to much information, but letting them gradually take the information in.

The video will consist of texts from books, videos, images, music or whatever depending on each video, maybe even interviews with forum members later on in the series on their experience with paleo diet?. It is also important that atleast 1 video should be posted weekly. But this is only possible if atleast 5 people are working together or more and also like doing it.

Like 2 people working on scripts, 1 person rechecking the script, 2 other people working on the editing.

For example:

Video 1: Introduction - What is the goal of these mini series - Food (what majority of people eat today)
Video 2: Gluten
Video 3: Diary
Video 4: Artificial sweeteners etc.
Video 5: History - Our ancestors - The paleo diet
etc.
etc.

But this is an idea that has been on my mind that I wanted to share. Would it be a good idea to invest energy in something like this?

I would say yes! But the script would have to be carefully written, so as to have as much essential information in those 5 minutes.

I was also thinking about the idea of making very simple "powerpoint videos". For example, summarizing one of the books on Diet, and filming the screen while narrating what is on the slides, with further explanations. That doesn't require any particular video-making skills. I know it's not "fancy", but a lot of people do that and the word gets out. See some of Peter Osborne's videos, for example.

The editor or the one knowledgeable enough to conceive such a series could even just make notes for a presentation - going through it in a sketchy powerpoint manner. Then leave the polish for a graphic designer/ animator. I know I'd love to help on the technical side of animating, but am rather lost in scripting/authoring/narration.

Awesome, I think regarding every episode of the video, they style would depend on the subject being discussed, for example we can use the powerpoint style in an episode where the focus entirely lies on a book.

Maybe we should first look at who is actually interested in participating in this project?

I for one like editing, but am weak at writing a script.

So maybe we can get a list of people who are interested in this?

Scriptwriters:

Scriptcheckers(controlling the script of the scriptwriters):

Editors(creating the video by creatively using images, text, narration etc.):

Don't know if that would help at all, but I wrote an article for French SOTT summarizing the paleo diet. It's 12 page long, mind you. :)
I sifted through all the info I could find on the forum (Life Without Bread thread, etc.) and many, many SOTT articles, so that's a handy recap to build on, maybe?
Only thing is that it's in French... But surely there's a way around that :D

Maybe it could be helpful, maybe not...

woww I didn't know that! I guess it would be great if it would be available in English too!
It might be worth to consider in the future to write such things in English first so that other people can translate it into other languages better and don't have that much extra work.

can you give us the link ?

I wrote the article in French because it was sorely needed in this language as, contrarily to English, there are very few (if any) books and articles on the subject in French. French-speaking people simply do not have access to that kind of info. There is no 'Life Without Bread' thread for them. Hence the 'urgency' to write in this particular language.

French being my mother tongue, writing in English would have represented almost as much work from others to proofread, correct and fine tune the article. I certainly don't speak and write English well enough to be published without serious back-up from the English-speaking editors.

Believe me, Pashalis, I know the work involved in translation :D

Thats cool Tigersoap, it would be nice if someone could translate it to english.

Otherwise I will make a start myself and start writing the scripts for the first few episodes and then post them here for feedback. It will take a while though, because I am not that great at writing. But perhaps it can be an interesting learning experience.

Hey Bo, I'd be glad to help you out with the scripts. I could work on the "Gluten" part, but it's gonna take a while for me too. Maybe at some point we can try doing a powerpoint presentation as well.

Indeed! Contrary to English, which has dozens of articles and good books on the topic, there is virtually no information on that topic in French, hence the priority to write a good FOCUS article about it (as well as other topics which receive no attention in French science, like modern cognitive science) for the French site.

It depends on how u wanna make this, but i can help u from music and sound effects side. I have also some experience in Adobe After Effect and Sony Vegas. I think the best way will be to find someone who start with this diet and survey results of his body. Between main plot u can speak with people about things like gluten and how it interacts with our body, all process. Most important is how we feel after starting paleo, u can make some research and show the precentage.

Now my questions are:
What about cholesterol?
Who's creating and how they set normal point in medical test results? It depeds on what? I mean it showing that we have more cholesterol in our body, but we don't eat some things, so should we look on it?

That some most important questions people will ask

From a couple of your posts, jokerwader, I am wondering if you have read the ENTIRE Life Without Bread thread. If you had, these questions, and other things you've posted, would have been answered already.

We really recommend doing all of the reading on a subject before jumping in. Especially with the diet. You need to know why you are doing something and how to do it correctly before actually doing it.

This is a very good idea in my opinion.
I haven't started the diet yet, so I'm a bit behind the knowledge in many areas of this specific topic. For some time it has been my desire to get started on it and this might be a good initiative for me. If I can contribute with anything, maybe minor things with design or editing I would be more than happy to do so.

Ofcourse not, there is like whole book, but im going forward in it. Some people asking about choresterol and they afraid of it becouse of the whole process of scaring people. I will try to read all threads before "jumpin in".
