Thank you all for your responses. You've helped me organize my thoughts on this topic and gain at least a bit more clarity (our ability to fully understand that is limited by our 3D nature, as Joe pointed out). I'm quite busy at the moment, but I’ll try to come back soon with a more detailed reply.
