There was a joke doing rounds during my college days, about usefulness of things physicists, especially theoretical physicists do. When translated to our recent times, it might be represented by the following story.
Apologies for doubling things if the gist of the joke has already been shared somewhere on the Forum.

The guys all hell-bent in promoting climate-scam and veganism among other things, were having issues to sell their twisted worldview to the general public. Looking for a solution to their troubles they decided to consult the scientific community. As all of them knew basically only Einstein, they resolved to find the theoretical physicist to do the deed. Backed up with some nice incentives, they approached a local theoretician with a demand to link in any way possible cows to global warming, or vice versa, for them it was the same thing. Almost always in the mood for a good challenge, the physicist guy accepted and told the visitors he'd get back to them with a solution.
After some time and still no voice from the physicist, the scam guys decided to pay him a visit and check what's up. Upon asking if he solved their problem, the theoretician replied, "Yeah, I did, but there's a catch to it." "What's the solution?", the other guys insisted. "Well, I found the link you sought for, and it's a really nice looking and pretty simple sounding, but ... it could perhaps work only for spherical cows in a vacuum." ruefully said the physicist. "It doesn't matter, tell us the solution!", the scam guys were adamantly pressing our guy to give them what they wanted. "OK, since you're really asking, it's the farting.", replied theoretical physicist sharing the result of his work.
The other guys, all happy to finally have something tangible to fulfill their wished for plans, turned on their heels and went on with their agenda, this time backed up with some serious scientific research to make it more palatable for the general public to swallow the whole stinking thing all together.
