Jimi Hendrix

You saw him live, Zorpho? Cool!!!

My favorite album of his by far is Are You Experienced which to me is perfect all the way through. Second favorite is Band of Gypsies where the side with "Who Knows" and "Machine Gun" always blows me away.

Jimi,.. even though he crossed over 40 years or so ago is still influencing young [and old] guitarists to this day. Why? He was the REAL DEAL, totally honest no pretense, he wasn't trying to look, sound and act cool, HE WAS COOL and always will be.
I never would have gone electric if it wasn't for Jimi.

I'll never forget the first time I saw him standing in front of that line of Marshall stacks his pants flapping from the raw energy they were pounding out, truly amazing.
Electric Lady Land is probably his masterpiece, it's my favourite anyway.
God bless Jimi Hendrix.

My fav is: "All along the Watchtower"

Lyrics:

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion
I can't get no relief
Businessmen, they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour's getting late, hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants too

Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl, hey

All along the watchtower
All along the watchtower

Likewise a fav for me, and Dylan even took to performing the Hendrix version of his tune (which really has become the definitive version despite other artists attempted variations). Another favorite that's reemerged for me recently...

Room Full of Mirrors - Jimi Hendrix

I used to live in a room
full of mirrors
all I could see was me
well I take my spirit and
I crash my mirrors
now the whole world is
here for me to see
I said the whole world is
here for me to see
now I'm searchin' for my love to be
hey!!

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!!!

Broken glass was all in my brain

Cuttin' screamin' crying in my head
broken glass was all in my brain
used to fall on my dreams and cut me in my bed
it used to fall on my dreams and cut me in my bed
I said a makin' love was
strange in my bed
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!!!

All right
ooo ooo
yeah yeah yeah

yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah
no place to stumble
no place to fall
can't find the floor
no where at all
see nothing but sunshine
all around

Love comes shinin' over the mountains
love comes shinin' over the sea
love will shine on my baby
then I'll know exactly who's for me
lord, I'll know who'll be for me
in the meantime, which is a groovy time, such an out o' sight time
