John Pilger: Inside the Invisible Government: War, Propaganda, Clinton & Trump

Don't forget that he wrote also books, like these ones:

John pilger was on RT's "going underground" earlier today, (election special) with the episode entitled "the truth is... there was no one to vote for." It's 28 minutes long but i think its a worthy amount of time to remind those who don't pay close attention, or have long memories, certain record of events along with what's colloquially called "real talk." It's nothing new to seasoned observers here but I think it'll be good for SOTT.

Thanks Ascien, very good point from Pilger on journalism:

the exposure of journalism as an extension of that same corrupt power..

I think with this elections - if someone still had doubts on what is true journalism and what is just regurgitating information coming from big corporations, things got clearer now, and hopefully little by little people will realize this.

Have also watched this, and John has an excellent analysis of it all - as for Trump, how can one know; wait and see. His key words on journalism, however, were that it's not journalism, it's anti-journalism from within an echo chamber. He unpacks the NATO Russia picture, as he does China via the apparatus staked against them that Hillary has, and would have, lead the charge.

I too recommend giving it the 28 minute listen.

I would also like to recommend this documentary that talks with more depth about the article posted by Nathan:

John Pilger - The War you don't see

https://youtu.be/glnYs7Fz0SM

A powerful and timely investigation into the media's role in war, tracing the history of embedded and independent reporting from the carnage of World War One to the destruction of Hiroshima, and from the invasion of Vietnam to the current war in Afghanistan and disaster in Iraq.

As weapons and propaganda become even more sophisticated, the nature of war is developing into an electronic battlefield in which journalists play a key role, and civilians are the victims. But who is the real enemy?

John Pilger says in the film: "We journalists... have to be brave enough to defy those who seek our collusion in selling their latest bloody adventure in someone else's country... That means always challenging the official story, however patriotic that story may appear, however seductive and insidious it is.

For propaganda relies on us in the media to aim its deceptions not at a far away country but at you at home... In this age of endless imperial war, the lives of countless men, women and children depend on the truth or their blood is on us... Those whose job it is to keep the record straight ought to be the voice of people, not power."

I also thank you very much for sharing another awesome John Pilger's article, it was easier to read it here than on his website, too!

And his latest RT interview was fascinating, I mean, it's incredible how he says such apparently obvious things, on how the real issue, the war and the misery and the destruction that now engulf half of the world is a product of those liberal and neo-cons politicians and con-artists, along with a hypocritical liberal media that is responsible for so many deaths over Iraq and all the Middle-East...And the way he puts it , that the people really had no one to vote for (Killary and Trump being creations of all this toxic environment), that only those people who were surprised by the election results are those who enabled it to happen...

"They're not journalists. They're anti-journalists", he also says at one point, about those who are paid to just echo what is handed to them. Really, it's wonderful to know he's still alive and kicking.

And this is the latest from Assange:

Interesting timing.

Thank you Approaching Infinity. It was indeed, excellent. It was a bit dense for me, since I didn't really know that much about all the history, all the information given took me a while to process, but I thought that was excellent cause he gives great context about really everything. Won't spoil it, but all in all I think he did an amazing research job.

Thank you Approaching Infinity! I want to see it today. I think it is a very important film and John Pilger is always a man that when he explains something it is clear, we can understand it very well.

Thank you Approaching Infinity, for the link. I came here to post my first impressions of the first 15 minutes or so of the movie. It's so disturbing (how ignorant I was of the nuclear tests and the staggering hypocrisy of the USA after WWII) that I will wait until I can watch it with my family, they need to know this, and Pilger is amazing in telling the facts.
