Hi All,
Here I was wonderng why sott was 'late' coming up today, but kept checking back and 'refreshing' until I suddenly saw the 'new face of sott' unfolding on my screen. Wow! What a change. I'm grinning at myself right now :D because of my initial reaction of: "Oh no! Where's the beloved and comfortable sott that I've become so used to?" And then I find this new forum format to boot! But my panic-and-semi-sorrowful reaction was short-lived, and now I'm excited. Now that I've signed up and logged in, I'm off to do some exploring; to learn how to navigate my way into, around and through The New SotT and see what's in store for me here.

Hey Lucy

Great to hear that you are liking the new format, alot of changes are in the works, there were some last minute bugs and changes so it was late, by a long time, but I think it's worth it.

Keeping reading, and we'll keep writing.

Hi altreides...

About the bugs: I will patiently wait for the link to the 'site map' to start working again (and the glossary?...which I can't find!). I seem to be suffering from a small case of the "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" (to quote Joni Mitchell) syndrome...'cause I'm realizing how much I rely on all the 'links'.

Meanwhile, you guys are doing a great job and I appreciate all that you do. And I'd be devastated if you quit writing! >>"horrors"<< So I'll continue to do my part to keep you very busy.

From your 'Patient and Voracious Reader'
Lucy

I, too, was impressed with the new look. Way to go! (I was hoping for this kind of format for a while, but never thought it would come to fruition) As for bugs: is the list archive gone? Also, will you keep the old board for archival purposes? And this is just my personal suggestion, but the graphic for the Christmas podcast page was SO good, perhaps you could incorporate it somewhere where it will get more "viewage?" Great job all around, though,

Harrison

I sort of third what Harrison and Lucy have said, but only in terms of format - it is much better! It seems in comparison, that my decreasing interest in reading the Signs page was not necessarily the news items themselves, but the presentation. The "all-on-one-page" setup, coupled with the page appearing late evening for me (GMT) was just too overwhelming. So, sorting them into categories has had a positive effect. Hopefully it will persist.

In comparison, the current green design is a bit dull and bland - I thought you were onto a good thing with the red and black. Perhaps more reflective of the current state of the world.

I hope Chumley won't be offended... :)

Hah! It was late for us too! Working on bugs until 1 a.m.!

Needless to say, some of us "oldy but goody" SOtT folks are a bit dizzy with all the changes ourselves. We knew we had to make changes to accomodate the growth, but knowing it and thinking about it is a lot different from doing it! We'll get our stride back soon though, and get through the programming hoops faster.

And yes, there are plans for more "aesthetic" dressing up, but one step at a time! :) and =)

Just wanted to say congratulations on the new look and feel for the forum. I've only been a reader for a short while, but find the new format much easier and faster to navigate and "home in" on specific topics and ongoing threads.

I actually like the simple and straight forward style and colours, although maybe I just focus better without pretty colours and graphics to distract me haha

Keep up the good work, there are a lot of people who are actively benefiting from your work by increasing knowledge to prevent attack and I for one can steadily see a gathering support for the work of SoTT and Cassiopaea across many sites and forums online.

I think the new design is brilliant :) Now its much easier to see what is being reported, and finally I can link to articles! So now I can say "hey, look at this here *link*", instead of giving a link and going "scroll down, its the one titled xxxx".

Its going to take me a little while to get used to it, but I can already see that its a vast improvement. I really like the frog too :)

Love the new design. I've been offline for a few weeks and it was a nice surprise to come back to all the changes. I had a similar initial reaction as Lucy - - 'uh where..., huh?, ahh... oh yeah!'

I love the new forum! I hope casschat will switch to something like this as well.
BTW, will there be forums on subjects like science, religion, etc?

Hey, Yes, based on community recommendations forums will be added if enough voices speak up, we want everyone to have a place where they can fit in an dicuss topics that are important to them.

Thanks for all the great feedback.

Me too, mee too! I love the new way. Please upgrade casschat.

Hi,
Well, it is entirely up to them if they would prefer the forum here to the email format of discussion. Both have advantages and disadvantages. And of course, one does not exclude the other! So, if they start moving house, lock stock and barrel, I say the more the merrier!

At the old forum i had posted about "blinking adds full of little lights" while talking about the design of the site which I thought was quite correct in the sence it goes straight to the point and I like that. Now the new design is all i hoped for! It mades me feel cozy while being on the site and the modern look do not adds "noise", but enthusiasm. I am very satisfyed with the new design and I love this forum layout, it is just so warm and clear, very nice effort, i thank you! :) :) :)
