Kidney Stones

That IS an interesting BTW Mac!

I was reading and found that, according to some "new research" back in August, iced tea (which I love) is a big contributor to kidney stones. Only problem was that since I decided to look deeper and find out what kind of tea, and why, I found out the study never existed:

_http://www.healthnewsreview.org/2012/08/iced-tea-kidney-stones-and-the-study-that-never-existed/

Now how bunk is that?? I have started using some kidney stone tea and have kept up with the apple cider vinegar, which has produced the most immediate soothing effect in my kidney area. I have yet to pick up Vitamin B6, but will keep everyone updated on how this turns out. Maybe I won't even have to get the surgery - that would be great!

Yeah, it's amazing how little MSM journalists do to confirm these health stories. Dr Milner probably pulled that "health tip" right out of his ear. Then suddenly it was a "study"

Started apple cider vinegar today, I pick will up some B6 next time I go to the food co-op. That would be great if your stone dissolved and no surgery. Your doctor will probably be flabbergasted.

I found this article.

Pumpkin seeds reduce calcium-oxalate crystal occurence in the urine of children.

We investigated the effect of pumpkin-seed supplementation on oxalcrystalluria and urinary composition in 20 boys age 2-7 yr from a hyperendemic area of Ubol province in Thailand. The experiment had four periods: control (before treatment), oxalate supplementation 5mg X kg-1 body wt X day-1, pumpkin-seed or orthophosphate supplementation 60 mg X kg body wt-1 X day-1, and posttreatment. Causal morning and 24-h urines were collected analyzed for crystalluria, pH, calcium, phosphorous, oxalate, creatinine, sodium, potassium, citrate glycosaminoglycans, and pyrophosphate. The results demonstrated that the longer the supplementation period of pumpkin seeds, the better were the results. Pumpkin seeds lowered calcium-oxalate crystal occurrence and calcium level but increased phosphorus, pyrophosphate, glycosaminoglycans, and potassium values in urine as compared with orthophosphate supplementation. Pumpkin seeds provide high phosphorus levels and can be used as a potential agent in lowering the risk of bladder-stone disease.

As a little warning, the keto-paleo-organic diet can be pretty restricitve in choice of foods and it led me to kidney stone. I did'nt actually had to pass one stone just saw the flow being restricted and started to dig about it.

The suspected culprits high in oxalate wich I was eating almost daily: Kale, Brocoli, Almonds, Pepper, Healthy doze of salt (Salt protocol for Iodine) and occasional coffe or chocolate.
Also with a low carb diet I prided myself of not needing much water. I was probably drinking 4 times less than a high carb diet if not less. Not a good idea to cut down on fluids. It is said to help pass the kidney stones and prevent the formation.

The kidney stones for me ended in October 2012 after 11 agonizing rounds. I started taking 150 mg B6, extra zinc and magnesium citrate. That seems to have taken care of it. Exception: In January 2015 I had a colonoscopy. In the following two weeks I had 4 rounds of kidney stones. Then they stopped again. No stones since. I am not sure why the recurrence then, maybe the prep day when I took no supplements was enough to start it again. A doctor I spoke to didn't see how the colonoscopy could be related to kidney stones.

When I am reviewing things that grateful for being free of kidney stones is near the top of the list.
I have realized that what I am most grateful for is that I exist, that I have being. Thanks to the Universe for bringing me into being.

I recently had a kidney stone pass, but wasn't sure so went to the emergency room. They did a CT scan and found that there is a pocket of kidney stones in my left kidney.

I went to see an urologist and she told me that there are 2 ways of handling this. I have an x-ray taken and if she can see where the stones are, she can sonic-blast them into dust. If she can't see them, she would have to run an instrument up into the kidney, and go over and down into the kidney since the stones are at the bottom of the kidney according to the last scan that was done and laser them. Because they are so low in the kidney, it could do damage to it.

So my question is, if after doing the x-ray, she cannot see exactly where the stones are and is not able to blast them, do I let her go into the kidney with the lasers and maybe do damage; or would going the supplement route and taking Chanca Piedra and Citracal be good enough to do the trick?

Heck, should I just forget the whole thing and only take the supplements?

Any help would be appreciated

I saw a video a few years ago in which a naturopath consulted another, a colleague, about his kidney stones and was recommended liquid corn silk extract made with alcohol (I have some by Hawaii Pharm LLC, made in Hawaii, USA, easily found/ordered online). He said he was astonished that it resolved his stones within just a few hours, and never would have known about it otherwise, so vast is the field of natural herbal healing. It's hearsay and they may be wrong, of course, or it could have worked in this particular instance, but such an inexpensive experiment would be worth it if feeling that kind of pain.

I have experience because my son now 15 has been suffering from this disease practically since he was about 2-3 years old. The disease started earlier and was not detected until he was about 3 years old. When he was 4 years old he had his stones smashed with ultrasound waves in one of the best children's specialist hospitals in Warsaw (military hospital), then at the age of 6 he returned to the clinic for another stone smashing. Due to a doctor's misdiagnosis of the reason for kidney stone formation he had to undergo the procedure again. The key was to examine the composition of the kidney stones, and my son was diagnosed with calcium oxalate forming a stone in his left kidney, and in his case it helped to take vitamin D3 and magnesium daily, which the wise doctor understood and recommended for use. Till date there has been no relapse and the left kidney has not formed stones for about 10 years. I advise you to first examine the composition of the stones, then a wise doctor must apply the appropriate therapy and it does not have to be expensive. I know personally a man who at the age of about 50 years underwent a similar procedure to break up the stones with ultrasound, but the composition of the stones was completely different than my son, and it was urate stones. The stone smashing procedure is done under anesthesia and lasts 45-60 minutes depending, but I know it is not recommended to do it in adults more than 1 to 2 times in general because the better thing is a proper diagnosis as to the cause and then prevention, whether it be diet or vitamins. For your information I will add that my son's stone was about 12 mm in size at the age of 3 and his kidney length was at 70 mm, o caused attacks of renal colic and he could spend 5-6 hours in the arms of my wife and his mother and not shed a single tear. I am not a doctor, but I sincerely sympathize with your pain, as I know it is very painful and the only remedy during the attack before they flared up was simple decongestants to lower the pain level. This is just my experience as a father of a child with kidney stones and I am in no way giving medical advice, but I sincerely hope that my child's case will help you with your pain and suffering. If you see fit to ask anything I will answer to the best of my experience, knowledge and ability. Kind regards Nienna.
