Another monsoonal surge could soon bring Bay Area dry lightning

Weather service Bay Area meteorologist Brayden Murdock told SFGATE that it's still a bit "far out to say exactly" what will take place next week, but moisture will likely arrive to the Los Angeles area before coming up north.

"We're settled into another pattern where we have this moisture, it's coming up from the south," he told SFGATE.

Murdock added that there will be some divergence in models from last week's event when it arrives to central and northern California.

It's not anticipated to be another lightning event akin to the one in August 2020, which produced hundreds of wildfires.

But as fires begin to intensify amid peak fire season, including the thunderstorm-induced Tamarack Fire, it's worth staying prepared in the chance that something does go awry, Murdock said.

"It's been a dry year and luckily we haven't had the set up of what we've had last year," he said, "but we're not out of the woods yet."

That seems to be one of the big issues here regarding the flood in Germany. My current take is that this is mostly due to stupidity/degeneration of the authorities (as described in Political Ponerology), and especially a totally insane media that at this point couldn't do a decent job even if they wanted to. Plus a totally heated political atmosphere where everyone tries to get something out of some narrative, and maybe also an attempt to hide the fact that the population cannot, on principle, rely on the authorities to "save them" - in a big natural catastrophe, that's simply impossible. You have to prepare yourself, organize with neighbors etc., there is no other way. Naturally politicians don't like that idea at all!

There seems to be a TON of fake news going around the net about all this, so we better should be careful. I like watching Sputnik's Basta Berlin podcast (they are on YouTube) - there are topics they won't touch, but they are great at taking a step back and actually looking at the facts instead of believing hyperbole whatever the source. They also manage to present all these things in a funny way and I don't feel too depressed after that despite the depressing topics they discuss. The effects of the typhoon were felt Sunday morning in Shanghai with strong gusts of wind and constant rain.
East China began to feel this Sunday (07.25.2021) rains and strong winds as Typhoon In-Fa approached, while other parts of the country recovered from the historic floods that occurred last week.

Maritime, air and rail traffic shut down much of China's east coast in the wake of the expected arrival of In-Fa, which is due to make landfall at Ningbo port in the late afternoon or early evening on Sunday.
