Thanks for the feedback and helping us iron out tech issues. Much appreciated. It was most unexpected to be doing this tonight so thanks AWTF for the suggestion.

Can the two of you explain to me what the purpose of this test is?

Well my reason is that I have always had an interest in internet radio , and so back in 2007 i registered the domain radioliverpool.com.

I use to take a sunday broadcast out with an Italian friend of mine at the time , playing music from unsigned artists and talking about the state of the world at the time.

I would also read out articles from SOTT and we would chat about those.

I also on a number of occasions took out broadcasts alone with the same format.

I was contacted back then by a musician from Liverpool who asked if i could broadcast an event live from Liverpool , it was called oxjam . Musicians , mainly from "LIPA" (Liverpool institute of performing arts) performed live to raise money for oxfam..

I was making many contacts at that time with musicians based in Liverpool and there were possibilities which interested me.

It was my first attempt at outside broadcasting , and that worked by having someone in Liverpool who sent the signal to my server and i was back in the studio and hosting and relaying from there. It had a lot of listeners from all across the world and was a mini success.

Unfortunately due to my illness which started to get worse at that time , my broadcasts became rarer until I stopped altogether.

I chose radioliverpool as a domain name as both mainstream (commercial and the BBC) stations in Liverpool do not carry Liverpool in their name and i knew that my url could top them in a search engine when folks searched for "radio in Liverpool" or similar.

This did happen at certain points along the way. I also received emails from people who would have liked to pay for advertisement on the site , but at this point I was winding it down due to repeating illness.

Hospital operations happened , recovery time and a desire to do anything was at an all time low and so I never took out a broadcast from that Domain again.

Then came along our son , and then the buying and renovating of this property , so no time to think of broadcasting live again.

I did however keep paying to keep that domain with the thought of using it to broadcast live once again at some point. I believe that it has potential of bringing in some form of income if run correctly with the format I have in mind. And to also have topics on it which is of more interest than the stations in Liverpool for sure.

The last two days I had the house to myself and my thoughts turned towards doing a trial / test run of broadcasting live again as I hope to be doing this once more very soon. There are people who can contribute and help with posters in Liverpool when the time comes , and there are people here in this country who are also ready to participate.

´With this in mind and not being entirely sure i could remember everything regarding technically taking a broadcast out live , i decided to have a go. To do a test run.

I was going to do it alone ,though it would be better if there were two hosts , because then one also finds out if one can do phone ins and long distance communications stuff etc.

This is why I asked Pob if he would help me with this as we had been doing the podcasts last year together and he has no fear of broadcasting and has a great voice for such a thing. He agreed that he would help me with this , for which he has my thanks.

The test helped immensely as I now know that I am in need of a new usb mixer , and i discovered that Skype and my live broadcaster software have moved on /developed since 2007 . And it was good to overcome these problems.

Very soon if I can sustain my health I will be broadcasting live with Radioliverpool once more , but this time with a little help from a few Danish artists this side who have shown an interest.

Thats about it really.

Now that I had the time to do a thorough search for it, I got my problem solved.

I had left unchecked a box in Opera Preferences Content called "Enable sound in webpages". It didn't occur to me at the time this would be the cause of no sound during the test because, as stated before, I never had any problems with audiostreaming from other websites previous to this one.

So all in all, no wrongdoing at your side of the equation at all.

It was entirely my own fault and it just took too much time for me yesterday evening to figure this out quickly enough to be of any further use for the test procedure. Sorry if I have been bothersome. My apologies.

After reading the explanations of AWTF I definitely want to wish you speedy recovery and good luck with your 'hobby'. May it yield more fruits than prospected...

The test works both ways , and so it gave listeners a chance to encounter their problems with listening in also , so no need for apologies what so ever. Now you know where such a problem may be in the future.Which is what its all about. Cheers.

Added. Actually meant to say thank you to you.Now I have another suggestion to give to people who may encounter this problem in the future.

It's as AWTF's writes. For me it was completely out of the blue. A few hours earlier I was asked and agreed since I do enjoy podcasting and hadn't tried live broadcast before. So despite being unprepared, I found the audience interaction was great fun and an interesting learning opportunity.

Tonight Halloween 8pm gmt Will be going out live again. This time just me hosting I think ,though there will, i have been told be one or two live guests. It is still in test mode for live broadcasting, though i think i have ironed out some of the problems highlighted on our last test drive.
