Sounds like a good idea. This is probably an innocent situation, and alerting them that this list is available to the world should fix things. Then again, I can think of no reason why anyone outside of, say, the 'secretary' of the QFG, would have such a list - but that's just my take on it. ;)
 
From the data I see on the list (i.e. mine) it could only have been gotten from the Yahoo cass group. I may be wrong on this, but it's looking pretty close. And even then, it was manually done because my name doesn't appear in my email address or in the header, only in those messages I signed off with it.
 
Not sure if this info will help narrow down the source of the list...my name is not on the list and I'm not a member of QFG/QFS although I am a member of the Casschat yahoo group. fwiw
 
I'm on the list, and I've only used that email address for the SOTT newsletter and donations. I used a different one for this forum and casschat.

Yeah, me too. The email address that they have on file is an alias though, my email addy was random generated by my ISP so I put an alias on to make it more personalised - however, I've only actually used the alias a handful of times, I got used to using the original.

Anyway, I signed up for the signs newsletter with the alias - so I'm guessing this is how they have got hold of it.

This is very strange.

Yes, some emails are from this forum, but there are a lot of others that are unrecognizable. Also, I am not on the list. I also don't think that it is the SOTT newsletter list.

Their email seems to be robsara@gte.net

I suggest that everyone write to the domain server and complain.

It does not come from the yahoo list because when I registered over there I did not use the email on the list.
 
Well, this is kind of unusual. There was no way to get our old E-mail Edition mailing list unless someone was up to no good. There ARE some e-mail addresses that I recognize from our mailing list - but it is a small fraction of those that had signed up by 30 January 2006, which is the date on the file.

In any case, the whole system works far differently now, and our current mailing list is stored in such a way that nobody should be able to get to it unless they do some seriously illegal stuff.

If anyone ever gets ahold of any personal information you submit on any of our sites, it is absolutely NOT because we released it. Somebody has to be up to no good.

Also, I should mention that even signing up for a Signs page account (the main page, not the forum) does not require you to submit anything more than a valid e-mail address. If you want to submit more info, you can. If not, all you need is a login name, password, and a valid e-mail address.

Now, this "Rob and Sara" site is familiar to me...

I'm not on the list, and this list must be complied before this year, as Scott mentioned. I hope they don't update it. fwiw.

Also, I'm curious on what are "0" and "1" means next to each of the email addresses in the list. Codes, perhaps?
 
Well, now I don't know what to think. This is interesting indeed. I'm on the list... Well, so much for trying to fly under the radar.!?.!?.!? I consider myself a nobody on this stage. A very small two bit player So what the hey.?.?.?
 
Just thought I'd throw my hat into the ring. I am also on the list. The address they have is the one I use for Cass Chat. Could that be the connection?

Same here. Mine is an old address that I think I have used once or twice on casschat, when I would be sending straight from my mailbox and thus bypassing yahoo groups. That is at present the only connection that I can see for my web name being there.
 
The one thing that I know is that the members cannot see the member's list on casschat (except for mods) unless it was hacked into. But, I think Scott was right on the money: some of these email addresses in the list may be from SOTT Edition mailing list, perhaps from 2006. But, was the mailing list of SOTT available to the public back then?
 
I seem to recall long before the previous/current forum was built,
QFS started in the Yahoo group-list(?). If this be the case, I can see
how a mailing list would be pilfered from there, but still, I am not on
this list referred to in this thread. I think I started with the Yahoo
group-list sometime around 2002/3? I did not join the very old forum
(which maybe the list was pilfered from this old forum?) that has been
abandoned in favor of PunBB which is probably more secure?
