But, I think Scott was right on the money: some of these email addresses in the list may be from SOTT Edition mailing list, perhaps from 2006. But, was the mailing list of SOTT available to the public back then?
I don't think they're from the Signs mail list now either because that doesn't explain how my full name is also part of that file, along with a lot of other people. That only happens when I have physically typed a message to somebody using a mail program, or replied to them directly.

Because the DoH logo (in the directories of robandsara.com) was apparently designed by Atreides (it's on his personal site) and his email addresses are at the top of the mailing list, and I've emailed him using two of the addresses in there (and it contains various other Signs members')... the only conclusion I can draw is that Atreides somehow and/or for some reason has sent "robandsara" that list.

Any of the team want to address this? I could be wrong.

If you look at the bottom of the pages at:
xttp://www.robandsara.com/

It says this:

Apache Server at w ww.robandsara.com Port 80

I know next to nothing about ports, but is port 80 ‘open’ in any way if playing games online between other people? If so, could a hacker sneak in to your computer via port 80 while playing and ‘see’ or steal information from your computer without you knowing?

what happened there is that apparently their apache stopped knowing how to handle PHP - meaning that mod_php is not loading for some reason; it looks like a legit problem to me, murphy's law in action so to say.

from perusing the files there, DOH seems to be a MUD (multi-user-dungeon) - he also has a program to cheat at it. the list of names looks like something compiled from personal communications.

somebody living within reasonable long-distance-call-fees-distance should probably tell them that their server has problems before people from their church read that shameful file, story.txt.

they could have avoided this exposure by simply putting an empty index.html in each directory . . .

The one thing that I know is that the members cannot see the member's list on casschat (except for mods) unless it was hacked into. No. We've never made any mailing list or other personal information publicly available.

I think I can say with 100% certainty that Atriedes did not do that. That's not to say that he might not have been hacked. Just now, he has recently moved into a new place and his internet is not yet hooked up so he cannot respond, but he will shortly.

Hrmm.

It seems the old mailinglist.txt, before we switched to mysql found it's way into the wrong directory. Many apologies, but as you see, my address is in there too, so certainly wasn't intentional.

I am fairly certain that these people aren't managing their site anymore, nor DOH's which has nothing to do with Homer Simpson. It's a clan site I built for some friends awhile back.

As to how it got in there, simple and honest blunder most likely involving an ftp client with multiple tabs open at the same time, again apologies to those whose emails were on the list, I have contacted the server that hosts them on the issue, and I hope they will respond.

Well, when it rains, it pours, very sorry folks.
