Again I know this is an older post but I too have the Mirena going on 4 years now. I took the pill for about 9 years and finally had to switch because I smoked and the doctor said NO smoking with the pill after 35. I loved the fact my usually heavy monthly visit was eliminated and thankfully I have little side effects from it too. I am type B blood so that might make a difference. My concern after reading the diet and health thread is that it is make of plastic and if it can contaminate our food, what will it do inside the body? It hurt very much having it put in and I thought seriously about just leaving it be after the expiration date because I am not sexually active. Now I am thinking that may be just plain nuts to do in light of all the new info you guys have put together. I have about a year before removal and after the completed detox diet hopefully I can continue with a lighter visit. FWIW
