Mirena IUD?

Again I know this is an older post but I too have the Mirena going on 4 years now. I took the pill for about 9 years and finally had to switch because I smoked and the doctor said NO smoking with the pill after 35. I loved the fact my usually heavy monthly visit was eliminated and thankfully I have little side effects from it too. I am type B blood so that might make a difference. My concern after reading the diet and health thread is that it is make of plastic and if it can contaminate our food, what will it do inside the body? It hurt very much having it put in and I thought seriously about just leaving it be after the expiration date because I am not sexually active. Now I am thinking that may be just plain nuts to do in light of all the new info you guys have put together. I have about a year before removal and after the completed detox diet hopefully I can continue with a lighter visit. FWIW

I finally had my Mirena IUD taken out. My hair is so thin it's wierd for me...
Anyhow, My Dr. really questioned me and tried to talk me out of having it removed, I told her about my hair but of course she said she had never heard of that being related and that I should be careful of what I read on the Internet! HA! Oh and she felt that it was my thyroid... well i had that tested right before i got the mirena and it was normal! And besides I've been following the paleo diet which is similar to what drs tell you for your thyroid, "eat protein with everything".
so now back to menstrual cycles, I'm hoping since I've been eating better that they won't be as bad as before.
Anyhow, I already feel better generally, and hopefully within a few months my hair will stop falling out!

I will update this as soon as i notice any difference.

BTW I've read about plastics not being good for you what about silicone?

Hi LadyRodgers,

I noticed you haven't updated on your diet experiences yet, your last post regarding your diet comes from last year in which you said: "I’ve been following it for about a month, yes I’ve slipped here and there, but really for the most part I’ve cut out all grains, corn, sugar, beans, etc..." You say ''for the most part'', how about now? Are you totally on the diet or do you still slip?

Many of us have experienced great beneficial effects regarding menstrual cycles on this diet, so hopefully you will experience the same. It might take quite some time though, in order to balance everything out. Good luck.

Hi Oxajil, what you've written above comes across as just a little bit pushy. It's really up to each person whether or not they share their diet here on the forum - it's a very personal thing. No one is under any obligation to do the diet, or report on it. I'm sure you didn't mean to come across this way, but I just wanted to point out that the way you phrased the above makes it sound like you've been monitoring who posts about diet and when - which would just be silly.

Point taken! I see how it does make it sound like that..
