Movie making collaboration

The Living Force
Are there any others who would like to collaborate in making movies that summarizes what the research here has led us to?

If so then perhaps it would be best to begin with small clips (to get the experience rolling) for youtube which could for example be used to accompany sott articles. So if there are others out there who are not an entire film making team in themselves but eager to contribute pieces we could help each other help the network. One doesn't have to be a pro just interested, but perhaps somewhat experienced if it is a technical position. So anyone; Idea and Perspective havers, script-writers, audio folks, graphics people, narrators, organizers, etc are most welcome.

There are probably some points to be discussed first on making an online collaboration possible:

How to organize? - perhaps getting word from a SOTT editor on what topics or articles are pertinent. So if the basis is an article there is a script (or perhaps the clip is to be an addendum) either way the source script needs a screenplay (content and progression) and a storyboard (an established guideline to work from in audio/ visual/ overall feeling and timing)

How to execute? - a group of directors? Usually a film production has to fit the economy guide of the producer and the vision of the instructor (art director) in hierarchical fashion, I don't know of any collective projects outside artistic experiments that has produced anything coherent and informative, but wouldn't mind to proove that model an alternative, perhaps by constructive discussion. any ideas?

Any other points and feedback is of course most welcome.

...

Personal note: I would love to animate/ illustrate technical overviews : medical/historical/scientific etc, but would also appreciate a poetic/abstract challenge. My personal projects usually crash in the scriptphase or just plain organizing/ deadline keeping, but I might post a script for feedback once I get some production experience rust hammered off. I can do graphics: 2D (still, compositing and animated) and all-round 3D

I should note that there are also ongoing projects at the chateau that I could always use help on. As it stands, I'm pretty much a one-man-band when it comes to doing vids...though parallel (and a couple of other folks) has helped out with doing some 3D modeling for me. Thanks again, dude!

So maybe a good way to start would be for folks to introduce themselves and give some idea of what sort of expertise they have.

I forgot to mention your in-house projects :-[. This proposal wasn't meant to detract from the activity there, rather a supplemental project as I have quite the spare time between those projects, of which I hope there will be more of.

Hi
pob and i are working on podcasts as you may know.maybe there is something you could contribute or we could collaberate on at some point. the house i have been working on will be moving on to the outhouse within the next two weeks in which we will be working on setting up a recording and video suite. The main thing i have been working on is videoing bands etc to put food on the table but my thoughts are as always incorporating the work into any work I like to get involved with.

I have some experience making online training demos using Adobe Captivate here at the University. I have designed the demos with the collaboration of the Subject Matter Experts, and then I scripted them, put them together and provided voice-over narration having 30+ years as an actor. I have Adobe Creative Suite 4 at home on my Mac upon which I sorely need to come up to speed, so I would love to have an excuse to learn it, and at the same time I would be honored to help you all out in any small way.

No worries, mate! Just wanted to make sure I got in a plug for anyone who might have some skills to lend. ;o)

I think getting folks working on something other than what I've got going on here is a good idea. The process of writing a script and putting together an actual presentation can be a great way to seat things you've learned in your mind. You can find out pretty quickly where you only thought you understood something when you try to explain it to someone else in a concise way.

So if you have creative suite you'll have After Effects. One of the skills I'm always looking for, and a skill that is vitally important on any video project, is AE. Gotta say, it is definitely my favorite video tool, hands down. Lucky for you, there is a place on the Net that can take you from "I know nothing about After Effects" to "I'm ready to make a SFX extravaganza" for free.

Visit http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/. They have the best tutorials on the Internet, and they give them all away...no catch.

I have given a little more thought to this and it is not clear to me in what it is you actually do.Is it camera work you are interested in?What is your experience in such matters?

My thoughts are to eventually set up so we get information out in the Danish language. i have a contact in a documentary maker named Christian Sønderby Jepsen who has recently had a documentary shown about pirates in somalia and a few other documentaries shown on tv 2 i think.

He is able to throw paid editing work this way , but more importantly contacts to people who can maybe find funding , or places one can submit finished projects to to get shown.

I would like to get a decent U.F.O Project out with interviews from witnesses to such phenomena in Denmark , and also bring in Keels work into it and the work of Laura.

We dont have much information of worth in the Danish language which might be good to try and address.

parallel,
I'm a graphic designer and illustrator and I'm offering whatever help i can. POB and Away With Fairies have been accepting my graphics for the Everyman Radiǿ Podcast, and whatever I can offer you, just ask.

I thought you guys were strictly audio, but if you need any graphics I'd be glad to have a look. And when and if a topic gets chosen here you can see if it may be something you would hone your skills on.

I'm not a camera person- no skill or interest to handle a camera really. I have experience in graphics/animation software such as Photoshop, AfterEffects and 3d studio max. I have also edited but don't have the sufficient hardware for that atm, unless it's for a small project in a modest resolution. As for this threads proposal cameras arent necessarily needed for illustration of research, unless some specific, attainable footage is needed and a nearby camera dude is ready.

Thats sounds like a nice job, the editing that is. Funds hunting is not really anything I am up to doing having seen the insides of the Danish film institute, production companies and their magistrates with their special clauses and general cultural myopia despite them believing the opposite.

That would be interesting. There is as you know very little focus here (Denmark) on that topic other than the random remark of ridicule, it seems that Denmark is in the dark ages regarding this topic compared to other larger cultures. But again this could perhaps be expanded with the right material, at least a few centimeters (in regard to the scramble minded public). Again if you get further with this project I would be happy to give it a look from a graphics perspective or script feedback though that is not my strong suit.
We dont have much information of worth in the Danish language which might be good to try and address.
I agree that not much danish spoken information of value is handy, and it really is a small market with few takers on the extraordinary themes. Personaly I am more interested in broad use, as in english focus in smaller realistic and faster realisable projects. Most danes are sufficient english understanders, especially the guys with special interests, though not forgetting that some still look for the danish version first and foremost especially the older generations, subtitles seem to work for most.

This is what I wish to work on apart from the actual graphic process. One thing is to write a good script with the right dramatic buildup, another is the understanding of the topic as in being able to relate it to a 5 year old. As I wrote above; my (imaginary) projects usually crash in the script phase, due to a diffusion of aim and little organisational skills, when I do organize it becomes forced and the details and aim get lost. Not to forget the predators range when working witout feedback.

As for this current collaboration proposal I wish to illustrate the research. I had a daydream of illustrating in the vein of polyvagal nerve theory, Elenin, or 100 year war/Black death revision scenarios. But really what is most relevant should be the object. I did not put a topic for a film as I do not know what could be interesting and most relevant to the group. But perhaps a (dummy?) topic would be of use, to work on scripting?

Welcome StandingOnTheEdge, NewOrleans and Alma.Innovadora. So we have a graphic and speaker team. Do any of you have any script experience you could share?

For inspiration here is a type of clip called infographic, various ways to illustrate a factual story.

Technically yes, audio, we did dabble with a promo video but have little experience of that.

And when and if a topic gets chosen here you can see if it may be something you would hone your skills on.

Sounds like fun :)
