i was really looking forward to the new muse album.
then they released 'uprising' as the lead single - i was rather confused since the track is quite mediocre. sounds like a B-side to me.
the whole album is IMHO only so-so... 'united states of eurasia' is great and a couple of others. but overall i find it hard not to be a bit disappointed.
rating: 3.5/5
I've just listened to the new album. They're a bit over the top: I like it a lot ;D OK, I can't compare since I haven't heard the other albums (which I'm gonna do). Undisclosed desires is a killer, and Exogenesis is awesome. Some fans said they hated the album at first and then after a couple of other listenings, they came to love it. It must be one of those albums you learn to appreciate with time.
a bit over the top? for me the album is by far not over the top ENOUGH! :D
i agree, repeated listenings have warmed me up a bit. but i still hate 'undisclosed desires' - worst muse song ever IMHO. (just goes to show how different tastes are - it is maddeningly catchy, tho).
(i've actually played some electric guitar over it, and even my non-existent guitar-skills make it sound better! )
if you haven't listened to the other muse albums, you're in for a treat!
my favorite is 'black holes and revelations'.
I second that. I've been listening to the album regularly, and it's really good.
Check "I belong to you"! (it's really cute when he sings in French and we don't understand a word )
I have also become a recent fan of Muse since I've heard this Uprising song. Now I am discovering the rest of their albums. They sounds almost like a mix between Depeche Mode and Pink Floyd plus something else. Very nice indeed!
Muse has always been such an interesting band. My mother was actually the one buying their album 'origin of symmetry', which I think is their second (?).
Break me in,
Teach us to cheat
And to lie, cover up
What shouldn't be shared?
All the truth unwinding
Scraping away
At my mind
Please stop asking me to describe him
For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
With no feelings at all
Open minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
Self expressed, exhausting for all
To see and to be
What you want and what you need
The truth unwinding
Scraping away
At my mind
Please stop asking me to describe
For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
With no feelings at all
Open minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
Wash me away
Clean your body of me
Erase all the memories
They will only bring us pain
And I've seen all I'll ever need
A lot could be said if we start to read and analyse their last songs. I do not specially follow the band but like them.
Someone informed about the fact that they released a movie mainy based on their last album in August 2020, the name of the movie is "Muse - Simulation Theory". I'll not post a link to watch it online here as it's not a free movie, but the point is about the end of the movie, during the "credits" , there's a song playing and a guy speaking on an old TV. I did not found the passage/clip of these credits, just the audio of it, and someone traduced them in french.
Here's this passage on youtube, the guy starts to speak around the 45th second :
Here's the traduced sentences (which were already traduced to french, so it's an auto traduction of a traduction, meaning that they may not correspond ... but the main message will be understandable by all and that's the most important here) :
This could be the beginning of the end of time.
I don't know.
I feel lost.
I don't know what the truth is anymore.
Do you?
I know we've been lied to and manipulated for too long.
Far, far too long.
I'm fucking sick of it.
We hide in our homes, holed up on social media watching other people's made-up lives!
While algorithms give us information tailored for corporations, politicians, and foreign powers to make us believe what they want.
We blindly clicked "Accept Terms and Conditions" too many times!
And now we are slaves!
We've been reduced to data, to be sold to the highest bidder, so they can sell us more shit we don't need.
They make us angry about things we don't care about.
We have turned into consumer machines, destroying each other, and destroying the only planet we have.
What happened to human dignity and privacy?
We thought we had taken refuge in our own quiet little world.
But we didn't.
They had to invade our minds They want to control and manipulate the whole reality.
But I wonder, who is this "They".
Is there still a "They"?
What if algorithms and AI are the new "They"?
And that they control and manipulate us?
After all, they know us better than we know ourselves...
We have to wake up!
It is time to wake up!
Wake up!
Don't just sit there!
Do something!
This is our last chance to regain control before it's too late.
It's interresting, they were pretty aware. I wonder what are the influences behind them (STO/STS) ? Also, by reading the following passage "We blindly clicked "Accept Terms and Conditions" too many times!" ... this puzzled me... yes, they are right, there's a worlwide manipulation behind this (the famous RGPD, mid 2018, maybe this was already discussed in another thread ...)
I'm going to add this movie on my "to watch list", a mix between a concert & movie from a band I like, including many meaningful words, I should enjoy it.
FWIW
Ce pourrait être le début de la fin des temps.
Je ne sais pas.
Je me sens perdu.
Je ne sais plus ce qu'est la vérité.
Et vous ?
Je sais qu'on nous a menti et manipulé pendant trop longtemps.
Beaucoup, beaucoup trop longtemps.
I propose you to (re?)listen (again), this incredible song from Muse "Apocalypse Please".
Just the title name says a lot, it begs for an apocalypse, who here is not at least half-expecting it ?
For those who want to listen it (sorry no odysee link :( )
And for those who want to listen the full album (as i'm doing right now, with helmet, a moderate to good volume, reading & posting on forum and being happy to be "there where I am") ... here's the link:
Here are the lyrics of Apocalypse Please :
"Apocalypse Please"
declare this an emergency
come on and spread a sense of urgency
and pull us through
and pull us through
and this is the end
this is the end of the world
it's time we saw a miracle
come on it's time for something biblical
to pull us through
and pull us through
and this is the end
this is the end of the world
proclaim eternal victory
come on and change the course of history
and pull us through
and pull us through
and this is the end
this is the end of the world
Note : a good pourcentage of all Muse song have deep meanings, this band is incredible, i'm certain that C's would answer that they are or were influenced by SDA "forces". If any mind it why not asking this quick one at next session ?
Hang on all, courage, trust in you, show the best of yourself !
(this album, Absolution, is a real moral booster ... at least for me ^^)
