Another talent cut off in his prime was Elliott Smith. His "moment" in the mainstream came when he had 4-5 songs in "Goodwill Hunting" and a grammy nomination. Other than that he flew under the radar. He wrote, played all instruments, sang, and produced his music. Very talented. His death in 2003 was ruled a suicide by knife to the chest, but I believe the case remains open due to strange circumstances involving his girlfriend & the knife being unaccounted for.
