I have a stress-generating job and I have built a collection of albums over the years that helps keep that down without interfering with my work. There used to be more classical music and such in it, but in about 2005 I chanced to hear and then meet Julia McKay (_http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-2732918.html).
Her album Where the Light Shows Through touched something in me, but when I went looking for more of her work I found that she had not continued to write and publish new music. I was, however, able to find similar music from other composers and I began to build a collection that I can only describe as "I know it when I hear it."
The genre of this music usually appears as "New Age," but there is nothing particularly "new agey" about the sound of the music I choose. Artists include David Lanz, Enya, Joe Yamada, Secret Garden, 7and5, and more. There is no one theme or sound to it, other than that I know it when I hear it.
