My dog is doing very poorly

My dog is very ill. Her breathing is very rapid and she has lost a lot of weight. At first I thought it was the heat, but it is cooler now and she is still suffering.

The vet came to see her last week, because I detected a nasty-looking spot just behind her foreleg. It had black spots, although they have disappeared now. I have been applying a paste of clay, following the advice of the vet in order to protect the wound. She thinks it is a cancerous growth and has given her Conium Maculatum 200K and Carcinosium 200K..
But the Conium (hemlock) seems to have made her worse. Her breathing became even more rapid and it is heart-breaking to watch her like this. Yesterday evening she didn't even respond to me. So, I gave her a massage to ease the breathing, which helped, because she became more alert again. I also spoke to the vet and she told me to skip today's treatment (the treatment will take two weeks) and give her Carcinosium instead.
The area around her belly is very extended.

The only thing she does eat now is raw liver. I have changed suppliers and today I will get meat for her which includes more liver (it is ground meat, her teeth are too weak to eat large pieces of bone). I have also ordered some snacks. I am also giving her some drops of marigold elixer. She still drinks well.
She likes to be outdoors now and spends a lot of time lying there.
I have made an appointment with a lady who also treated her in the past. She helped my dog a lot and she works with sound.

My dog is about 12 years old and she has had a rough life. We are her third home. Before she came here she lived in a stable and my vet thinks she was used for breeding. She still acts traumatised, as far as I can tell, although the nightmares have ceased.

The vet also advised me to make an appointment with an osteopath who has treated my dog before. All these people come to my house, as my dog becomes very restless in a car.

I don't know whether I should do something else.
Thanks for listening. :flowers:

Just a note that maybe in addition to liver try giving her meat broth, or maybe ground beef. Although liver is very good for dogs, it shouldn't constitute most of the meal. Also you say that the area around her belly is extended? Is it a bloat or a fluctuation, or maybe something else? In any case, considering the rapid breathing sounds like something worth taking your dog to a veterinarian, or call them so they would come and check your dog. Lots of luck to you and your dog. :flowers:

Sounds very similar to what Sebastian went through for the last couple of weeks before he departed. Our vet said it was congestive heart failure. He went pretty quickly and he was 12.5. Just do what you can to make puppums comfortable and probably don't stress her out any more than necessary. A cool place to lie, attention, water, a little hand feeding is about all you can do.

Thank you so much, Laura and Keit.
I will do as you said, Laura, I sit beside her a lot and stroke her and talk to her a bit. She seems to be getting worse. Her eyes have a different look about them.

As with Sebastian, my dog, Naura suddenly developed symptoms such as these and the vet diagnosed congestive heart failure. She left us much too soon within a couple of days. She was only 10. So do as you are doing. Stay with your pup, let her know she is loved and give her the comfort she needs. I hope she can get better!

I had a dog who also departed like Sebastian, it was very fast. I am so sorry to hear this. The best way is to be with your dog and do what you do. Take care... :hug2:

My dog departed this year and exhibited congestive heart failure during the two months prior. She had trouble breathing and I would sit beside her and pet her so that she knew she wasn't alone and that she was loved.
I agree with others that the best thing to do is to comfort them and let them rest.

I feel for you Mariama.
It is difficult to watch a being we love suffering. :( :hug2:

Dear Mariama,

Lots of hugs to you, you are a very loving and caring friend for your pet. :hug2:

Mariana,

Really sorry but glad your there to share your love and support with your lovely dog. Lots of love

More hugs in this difficult time, Mariama! I hope that your lovely dog can suffer as little as possible, and that you can be there to give her lovies and make her comfortable. It's extremely hard to see them go.:hug2: You are doing as much as possible. I think that if I were you, I wouldn't take her anywhere at this point. Traveling to the sound lady or the osteopath may affect her even more, and if she is in such bad shape, unless you think it can make a real difference, your love is enough and she probably prefers to stay home, with you, in the place she loves and knows, so that it eases her transition. She is already probably supper confused not really understanding what is going on. Getting something to calm her breathing down may help too.

Sorry to hear your sad news Mariama. It sounds like you are doing all that can be done to keep her comfortable and
let her know she is loved.
take Care. :hug2:

Big hugs from me too, Mariama. :hug2: I think it's a good idea to let her rest at home and keep doing what your doing for her. I know it hard what you are going through.
