My new drawing

I usually make paintings, but my students recently inspired me to play with colored pencils again. This drawing includes a crop circle that was found this year in England, (_http://www.cropcircleconnector.com/2010/oldsarum/oldsarum2010a.html), and it's been inspired by The Ra Material and The Wave. :)

Wow, very nice. I like it.

Excellent use of Symmetry.

Thanks for sharing. :)

These colors are great! Really nice work! I can totally picture it hanging up in my house!! :)

Thanks so much for your sweet comments, everyone! :D

Puck, I teach beginning drawing and there are lots of techniques you can learn if you have an interest in drawing, but lack the skills. I recommend the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (_http://www.amazon.com/New-Drawing-Right-Side-Brain/dp/0874774241) for people who don't know where to start. There are lots of great exercises in it and also a workbook you can get to help. Just last week one of my students told me that he used to hate art because he thought he couldn't draw, but now he says he loves art because he sees the world differently and wants to draw everything! :)

Hi Scarlet,

Thanks for sharing your work, very vibrant and enjoyable! :)

Betty Edwards is great and she has a couple of books that are quite useful besides Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
Color is another one I enjoy. Here is her website:

Puck, et al, "The Natural Way to Draw" by Nicolaides would be another great source. FYI.

Cheers.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback, de-tached and Adamski! I really like working with colored pencils and have been inspired to do a series of drawings that include crop circles.

Very nice indeed, Scarlet. I too am attracted to your use of color, especially the blue/green.

Thanks also for the helpful tip to soon-to-be drawers.

Thank you for your sweet comment, cholas and I have a lot more tips than that to give if anyone is interested in learning some basic drawing techniques. ;) Thanks for telling me that you are attracted to the blue and green areas. Greens, blues and violets are cool colors that are calming to look at and offer your eyes a rest from the heat of the warm colors (the reds, oranges and yellows). Here is another one I just finished that has a crop circle in it. :)

very nice work scarlet I am an artist myself and I would have to say I am very impress with the color of the art work thanks for sharing.

Thank you kindly, celtic! :D I appreciate you saying this because when I photograph my drawings and post them online the colors always look off to me and the details vanish. It's really nice to get such a compliment. :) I just finished another one this morning and look forward to posting it later today. I am attempting to break up with Roy, lol, or at least take some time off, so this next one doesn't have the rainbow look to it. I'll post it up later on when I'm off of work! ;D

Best Wishes, Scarlet
