My new drawing

Well, here is an image of that drawing I just finished. There are two crop circles in this one. :)

Hi Scarlet, just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your drawings :). I feel inspired by your use of color and geometric symmetry. Your artwork is warm and vibrant and very pleasing to look at. They look like they could be drawings for a tarot deck based on crop circles. The perspective is interesting also, in all three drawings you are looking up at the circular pattern. They remind me a llitle bit of something my sister calls mandalas, which is something else that art therapists use apparently. I'll ask my sister if she has any literature about it next time, but she told me that they are a good way to approach painful emotions. I think the colors and patterns are supposed to help your subconscious feel safe processing memories.

Thanks for sharing, I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Wow, thanks so much for your thoughtful comment, Seamas! :D I've found that I'm really attracted to symmetrical designs and attempting to achieve symmetry in my creations is always a fun challenge. It's so weird that you mention they could be drawings for a tarot deck, because I've been imagining what it would be like to design my own deck. I never thought of having it be a crop circle theme, but that would be really unique!! :wizard: Thanks also for the mandala reference. Mandalas are cool (IMO ;D) and this short article discusses what they are, their history, use and how to create one of your own: ~http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-healing-arts/201003/cool-art-therapy-intervention-6-mandala-drawing

You're most welcome, Seamas! :D Our little dialogue actually reminded me that I did so much want to create a project for my students this year where they create their own mandalas. I am a high school art teacher, by the way. I'd originally wanted my students to design mandalas based on the sacred geometry found in crop circles, but since my order of compasses never went through (not sure what happened there, but the budget here is really bad this year), perhaps I can have them create manifestation mandalas to help them focus on their dreams and goals, hmm... :)

How are you thinking about introducing them to the subject of mandalas? Or have you been leading up to it? Since you don't have compasses you could try using something else to make the circles. Ask them each to bring a soda can, a soup can and a large canned tomato can. Then they would each be able to make three different sized circles just by tracing the cans.

Thanks for your tips, Seamas! :) I think it would be hard to draw sacred geometry without using a compass, but these are some good ideas for what they can trace to make circles if I do create a mandala project without it. Hey, check out the link below! I stumbled on this artist's page while looking for crop circle reference images for my own artwork. Look how much effort it's taken him to reconstruct certain crop circle designs! :wow:

Whoa! I can see why you would need a compass. Soup cans would be way out of their league!

For the last few months I've been working on commissioned artwork, but before that I was on a cool series of crop circle drawings. I have another one I'm working on that is part of this series and this was the most recent one I created:

This album cover was for a guy I met online who lives in London. I love his music, he loves my art and we both worked very well together! :D

This was part of a logo design I did for someone who didn't pay me and it is currently being used on a website without my permission. :(

This one is for my friend who I teach with. We both offered to trade creations with each other four years ago and she recently gave me the most beautiful afghan I never dreamed could even exist. After years of putting this off, I finally finished it today. Truth Seeker's insightful comments to me yesterday in another thread completely changed the way I looked at this and I couldn't have finished it this soon without her help!! :hug2:

Well, after this annoying spell of working on projects for other people, I am finally getting back to making my own drawings. I already drew out another one for my "Alien Collaborations" series of crop circles combined and redesigned and I plan to start adding color to it this evening. :)

After that, I'm thinking of doing a huge acrylic painting of a family tree that extends back to the people I'm related to who came over on the Mayflower and also an early US president I'm related to. Oh, interesting blood I have here! The tree painting might be a little wild to actually paint back that far, but I can always break off limbs where I see fit. Haha! If only it were as easy to do that in this world as it is in the visual arts world! ;D

Scarlet--just saw your art and I must say it was a pleasure to drink in all those colours and designs! Very inspiring and refreshing too. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the supportive feedback, everyone! I'm so happy to be working on my own artwork again this evening. :D In the last few months I've expended a lot of energy making artwork for other people and my mind has gotten extra backed up with creative ideas as a result. It's time to let them flow out of me again at their natural pace..:whlchair:

;)

Wow, I would love to hang one of your pictures on my walls. You are very lucky to have such talent.
Your art must be a great comfort to you.
