I think your dad is most likely fine now.
When my mum died I had a very basic question. Where has she gone? She was here... I was very bewildered too.
I hope you are kind to yourself during this time and take good care. Big hugs, and talking really helps, rather than bottling it up
and keeping it all to yourself.

The C's say souls "return" to 5th density, a timeless contemplative plane of existence that reveals needed destiny for the next short wave cycle recycling or reincarnation.

Maybe you can write him a letter or dedicate him a prayer of your own, whatever feels better for you.
