CHESTERLAND, Ohio - Is it a goat? Is it a sheep? No, it's a ... what is that thing?

Wildlife experts haven't been able to positively identify at least three animals spotted roaming the woods in Chester Township, about 30 kilometres east of Cleveland, over the past few months. "We're not exactly sure what they are," said Allen Lea of the Ohio Division of Wildlife, which has reviewed photos taken by a resident. "But they're definitely not a native species. They're not where they belong."

Police have received calls from residents offering varying descriptions, with possible IDs including bighorn sheep and wild goat.

Sal LaPuma, an avid outdoorsman, said he recently got within 9 metres of one of the animals before it ran away.

This story hits close to home. I live a few miles from Chesterland and it's probably an Alpaca. There are alot of alpaca breeders in Chesterland as well as other animal farmers. I've seen people housing miniature horses and other unusual things here. I'm really surprised they didn't mention alpacas. They know there are alot of breeders here.

This is the image of the 'creature' that cryptomundo is running... http://www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/geauga/

Doesn't look like a llama...

This may sound crazy but I know where this photo was taken. It's a place called Chapin Forest. I've spent literally hundreds of hours walking the paths there. The bridge looks correct to me. There are many of those identical small bridges there that cross over small streams on the walking paths. The animal that is standing facing the bridge is clearly an alpaca. If you look at a few alpaca pics then you will likely agree. The animal behind it, well, I'm not sure. Could be a young buck. It would not be out of the realm of possibilities that a local alpaca got loose, made it's way into the forest then was befriended by a male deer. That's what it appears to be to me. As far as noone reporting an animal missing from a farm, well, maybe the owner is away on a trip and not aware or some other simple reason.

Looking at the photo again, I see why it looked weird to me. I see something I couldn't see properly the first few times I looked at it.

The left hand rail is snow covered and extends (perspectively) beyond or over what looks like a rock in the background. It threw me off there...

Those don't look like alpaca's to me; more like big horn sheep.
How about a veterinary opinion?

Any local news of sport or game farm escapes... missing animals?

here are pictures of alpacas.

what is in that forest does not look like an alpaca.

Blowing it up, it looks like a Big Horn Mountain Goat, probably
common in the area taken? I really do not see anything
special here... The photo is grainy so it limits the information.
