ON BEING GREEK

“A short essay by a Greek schoolboy, Stavros Sellis (Σταύρος Σελλής), about what being Greek means. May the younger Balkan generation follow his wonderful example ❤️❤️❤️. Here is a translation in English:

ON BEING GREEK

To be Greek is the same thing as being Albanian, Syrian, American, German or Turkish. A Greek is born with the same value as everyone else and he dies with the same value. He isn't born superior to foreigners. He lives in a certain place like every human, simply with much sun and sea. The negative thing about this place is that there are some Greeks who believe that being Greek makes them superior to other people. We are all born equal and we die equal. Our merit depends upon whether or not we positively influenced the life of all human beings on our planet.”

Beautiful essay! Thanks for Posting this remarkable insight, Canavare. :-)

Reminds me of the saying, "Out of the mouth of Babe's (children) - the "word of truth" will light - the darkness!"

Just beautiful - with "a ray of hope for humanity" - while the World falls apart around us.

The letter is a nice sentiment but its not true to say that we're all born equal and die equal. There are psychopaths and many OP's born with little to no soul or soul-growth potential. Those with soul-growth potential and choose to develop the growth of their soul are therefor superior to those who do not - and therefor will die superior.

This is true, but that shouldn't detract from the intent of the letter/essay. The point was that nationality, color, religion is not the divider or end-all of what a person is.

It has always seemed to me that the people of the Balkans allowed themselves to be turned into a snakepit of rivalries and antagonisms the same way it is now being worked on the US with the Leftist/Libtards - a big thanks to the CIA and their unity busting psy-ops. Bulgaria is now nothing, and no longer a potential powerhouse for development.

I think, we are all born "equally" with a capacity towards growth - no matter what our inherent disposition and genetic structure might represent? Life is all about lessons and without lessons, there is no movement "forward or backwards" to exist in a living environment.

I'd tend to agree with that, even if the potential varies from one person to the next. Of course, there's the psychopathy issue and the fact that essential, hard-core psychopaths are incapable of growth. Maybe it would be more accurate to say that everything that exists serves a purpose? Even if only to give us the opportunity to learn about evil and its manifestation in this reality (in the case of the psychopaths)?

I see, I took it out of context. I stand corrected.

We are all equally born sons and daughters of Earth including even psychopaths - but psychopaths don't have capacity towards "growth".

no matter what our inherent disposition and genetic structure might represent?
Absolutely! I have always been an advocate for that since I was a boy - and to my detriment I might add. And speaking of:
even if the potential varies from one person to the next.
- I like to think it all comes down to how far someone has come from the point of their soul-seeded start-point of origin. One person's "limited" inherent disposition handicapped with a limited "potential" may have overcome much more and greater hurdles - and sacrifices made - in respect to within said limited scope for the given potential accessible at that point in the life-cycle, than, say, another person in this life-cycle whom is bestowed a more "advanced" inherited disposition thus allowing for far "greater" a potential for soul-growth development.
Its all about the given soul-growth framework an individual can viably allow for against the backdrop of the given environment the soul resides in. In that respect, Stavros Sellis (Σταύρος Σελλής) is growing his soul very well :-)

I think the fact that it was written by a young student makes this all the more poignant. I am not really close to anyone with Greek ancestry, so I haven’t been aware of inherent cultural superiority. Perhaps the superiority is more a sense of pride stemming from their ancient culture & civilisation, and the contribution of classical antiquity across time to today (i.e. maths, philosophy, art, literature, architecture etc etc)?
