Jason, thanks for the direct link I will make a note of it, unfortunately it didn't work for me. I have tried running ccleaner, clearing cache through Firefox, using explorer browser, loading from bookmark, www.sott, the direct link, google search to main page as well as each subpage.
My brother, who lives the next town over and has a different internet provider, tried loading it and it came right up.
I am at a loss here. I am not tech savy, but can follow directions, if anyone knows of anything else I can try. Or Is this something I need to contact my provider for?

It seems you've tried everything and since it still doesn't work for you, your suggestion to call your internet service provider is the way to go, OSIT. Tell them that you can't access SOTT.net (66.90.73.49) and hopefully they should be able to do something. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Okay, here is the update:
After approx two hours on the phone with my internet provider (Brighthouse Cable)....
First the Customer Service Rep ran through all the basic diagnostics. Cleared the cache, had me go to c promt mode and pinged the site by name and numerical, had me disable the firewall and try again. Also had me go to c prompt and do a ipconfig/flushDNS. (I don't know what that means, but I took notes!!)
When that didn't work she transferred me to her 'mentor' (her words, I thought that was cute). We used to use Supervisor in my day (even though it was just the person in the cubicle next to us!), but Mentor makes them sound so much more knowledgeable and less hierarchical. I would have been more impressed by that except that....
Her mentor couldn't help me much either. He did the ping and it failed rather quickly, just like the other times. I couldn't understand why it would fail in c> mode so fast, when through the browser would keep waiting and not show an error/fail message. He also tried to load the site and couldn't. He was very certain that Brighthouse has not blocked the site!!! I asked him specifically, because "I would hate to have to change providers for that reason"!!
He believes that the issue lies in the 'host of site not updated on DNS server of my provider site' (not quotes, from my notes, so I hope it makes sense). He explained to me how servers update and sometimes change addresses regularly and also go trough 'relay' sites, and possibly the host site/relay site has not yet updated to my providers current information. I hope that my notes/translation makes sense to someone, anyone?
Unfortunately, I am not very knowledgeable in this technological realm and could not even ask the proper questions. I felt like a two year old asking "why" "why", "why doesn't it work?". If anyone knows of any specific questions I should ask, please let me know.

But I have been able to catch up on some forum posts and check out the latest video 'Q&A with Laura', which is exceptional! So all is good and maybe the Universe is guiding me to the places where my attention should be at the moment?!

I noticed that if one uses http://www.sott.net and logs in, it works
for me. However, if I use http://66.90.73.49, I get a sott page but
I am not logged in. So logging in, works. I am guessing that the
cookie "sees" the two entries as "different", that is, www.sott.net
is not the same addy as 66.90.73.49 even though it is.
Maybe Scottie can enlighten us as to why it happens this way?

From working in so many call centers, a 'mentor' is simply another call center rep with seniority/experience. Kind of like in between beginning rep and supervisor. Think of "Assistant Supervisor." :)
As for the answer they gave, it sounds like the problem is not on SOTT's end, and not on the provider's end - rather it is somewhere in between.
My guess would be that it is more of a routing table issue - if it were a DNS issue, typing the numerical version would bypass that I would think. And even with the routing issue, the problem probably still lies 'in between' your provider and SOTT.
In the meantime, you could always use a free proxy to access the site. Type the words free proxy (or anonymizer) into Google for suggestions. I would also be careful not to do any sensitive information through the free proxy, just for viewing SOTT.

Oh My God, Dant!!!!
I got the page when I used that link! I guess the http thing really works!! Thank you. I did have to log in though, but I checked stay logged in and x'd out of the page. When I called the page back up I was still logged in.
This is amazing, I spent 2 hours on the phone with the 'specialists' and no one thought of trying the http thing. Dant, you are the Man!!

I am on a Windows Vista Operating System, if that helps you understand me better. I did try to take notes, but I think I forgot to note that step!!
