The Force is Strong With This One
Hi all

Any advice for a first time user of a Ouija board? In terms of protocol, set up and the right time to do it? I don't have any specific intentions as far as souls I want to contact - it's just a first experiment. I suggested to my partner - who is a scientist - that she might like to join me and she agreed. She is however very sceptical of anything that isn't empirically proven. Will her mindset for want of a better word hinder the efficacy of the experiment?

And also, as I live on a steel boat, will the steel structure interrupt the flow of communication?

Thanks in advance
Owen.

I would strongly, strongly suggest you watch the knowledge and being videos available here:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6A5636AF74D4C560

before making the decision to even touch a board. IMO it is not something to do without a LOT of knowledge on the subject beforehand. Also some books are suggested in the video to read as well as background. Two of which I can remember offhand are:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hostage-Devil-Possession-Contemporary-Americans-ebook/dp/B00BOQGF80/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413813524&sr=8-1&keywords=malachi+martin
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spirit-Releasement-Therapy-Technique-Manual/dp/092991516X/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1413813606&sr=1-2

I have read both and I would not like to try my hand at the board. I simply can't think logically and quickly enough on the spot to be able to defend myself against anything untoward.

I'm sure Laura mentioned this book as well which I am about to purchase as it sounds fascinating:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beyond-Ashes-Cases-Reincarnation-Holocaust/dp/0876042930/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1413813656&sr=1-1&keywords=beyond+the+ashes

I hope this helps! :)

Yes, that helps enormously Lainey - thanks for your comments. Knowledge on the subject is indeed what I need. I have the board but haven't touched it yet as I want to do some research first.

Will have a read of those links you suggested.

Thanks!

That's fantastic. It would be terrible to think (I realise this is just my subjective opinion) of you unwittingly picking up some intense spirit attachments or having some dark entity hanging about your house because you thought you would give it a go without proper preparation. I mean if I understand things correctly these things can hang about for life if you aren't aware of them. Imagine your personality and therefore your life being affected by something that isn't you but is just hanging around against your will! Gives me the heebie jeebies. It reminds me of a quote that I can't remember the source of, it goes
"A clever person learns from their mistakes, a genius learns from other peoples"
Of course I'm not implying what you are thinking about is a mistake, there are no mistakes, only lessons. Only that it's best to have all the available information before making a decision.

hey Dancing Duck, as lainey mentioned, trying your hand at the board isn't something we would recommend. There is a lot of preparation, and work on oneself that should be accomplished before even pondering it. It's very important to know what you're speaking with, and how to interact with the other side so that you and your loved ones don't suffer any negative repercussions. Definitely watch the Knowledge and Being videos to get an idea of what's required, and read Hostage to the Devil so that you get an idea of what kind of critters inhabit that realm.

The best outcome one can hope for in early experiments is performing spirit release to any spirits roaming or attached to those present. Therefore you should have an in-depth knowledge of SRT and human psychology. Take a look at the recommended reading list, I would suggest having read most or all of the Narcissism books as well as the Cognitive Science ones before starting research on SRT or thinking about using a board.

I also got an impression from your initial post that you were just doing it out of curiosity or even for a bit of a fun, that's not the proper attitude with which to approach board work. So please please please be careful and don't begin anything without a lot of reading. You can always check back in here if you have questions along the way. :hug2:

I agree with laineys and Pucks input, it is definitely not a fun business and really consider what you are planning to do, because of that. The links given should give you many important insights.

Certainly don't see it as a 'bit of fun' so please don't assume I'm going at this like some dumb teenage doofus looking for a kick.

Once I've done some research on the matter I shall be taking it seriously and have the utmost respect for the medium. I just thought that rather than jump straight in I'd ask you folks for your advice and guidance.

I shall check back if I have any further questions. And will obviously let you know how I get on.

Thanks again.

I also agree with the others' input on taking this very seriously by being very well prepared before you can even make an informed decision on whether you want to experiment with this; and good to hear that this is what you want to be doing.

There's a book that stuck out for me as one good example of what happened to a person who meddled with this 'unseen jungle': The Siren Call of Hungry Ghosts - A Riveting Investigation into Channeling and Spirit Guides by Joe Fisher.

For what it's worth, I don't think anyone was assuming anything like that. It's just that there are dangers involved and those that have familiarity with the subject don't want to see anyone hurt. I think once you dig into the material, you find some horror stories that will explain the caution. There's some propaganda on the issue as well, so it's a bit of a mixed bag. The resources referenced are a good starting point to work from.

Thanks all. I'm well aware of those horror stories and the risks involved. And the propaganda too. I guess it's one of those subjects that not many people know about so rely on hearsay and exaggerated folk tales.

So good to know that I came to right place for advice beforehand!

I have read both and I would not like to try my hand at the board. I simply can't think logically and quickly enough on the spot to be able to defend myself against anything untoward.

I would also like to add that Hostage to the Devil is best read Last in the recommended book list. It contains some very triggering passages that require a good knowledge base to withstand, which helps to build psychic defenses. The normal psychology list, like others have said, gives some good foundations for parapsychology. 30 Years Among the Dead is probably my favorite book so far on attachments. It has more to do with mediumship than channeling, but the various observed phenomena in the book also apply to the latter. :)

I second the input of others here as well.

May I ask you dancing duck, what is the main reason that promted you to give the Ouija board a try? What do you want to achieve with it?
How well prepaired do you think you are for something like that?

Remember: Laura only started it after intense study for quite a number of years.

Have you read the wave books as of yet?

Hi Pashalis

My desire to experiment with the board is simply to test the ability to communicate with souls in another reality. I've never had any sort of paranormal experience (despite having an open mind and a willingness to embrace whatever the truth may be) so I think my intentions are to simply establish a connection with sentient beings beyond this reality.

I would stress that the emphasis would be scientific rather than emotional. I am very aware of the potential for damaging and/or malignant entities/spirits to use the board as a way to express an influence on my environment. So this is what I am keen to acquire knowledge on before going any further.

Despite my apparent clinical approach I would consider myself to be a spiritually aware person. Meditation is a big part of my life. I hope this would serve as a guiding light in this experiment.

If you have anything to add Pashalis, I'm all ears!

Thanks.

This has intrigued me, I would love it if you could point out some of those passages to see if it is something I can re-read and build on.

Don't even think about using a board. You've been warned.

Maybe after years of preparation, you can revisit this issue.
