I believe in "taking the Bull by the horns" ... but NOT literally!

Three people were gored and a further two people suffered head trauma during the first day of Spain's best-known bull-running festival in the northern town of Pamplona on Sunday, the Red Cross said.

One man was loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher shortly after the dash through the medieval town center’s narrow streets to the bullring, which lasted two minutes and 41 seconds.

A total 53 people were treated by the Red Cross. Runners often get injured at traditional bull-runs in Spain, but no one has died at Pamplona’s San Fermin festival since Spaniard Daniel Jimeno was gored in the neck by a Jandilla bull in 2009.

Locals and tourists alike will join in the 8 a.m. (0600 GMT) run every morning until next Sunday.

Five people were hospitalized for injuries suffered on the seventh day of the running of the bulls at the annual San Fermin festival in the Spanish city of Pamplona on Saturday, the Red Cross said.

Each morning from July 7-14 thousands of people, many wearing traditional white shirts with red scarves, line the narrow streets of the medieval city to take part in the centuries-old tradition of running with the bulls.

In an 875-meter (950-yard) chase, half a dozen, specially bred aggressive bulls race from their pen along a winding course to the city’s bull ring, with some people from the crowd running alongside while trying to dodge horns and stampeding hooves.

The Red Cross said none of the injured runners were gored by the bulls this time. Two suffered arm injuries after falling, two others a head contusion and one a thorax injury.

The bulls are killed in their ring later in the day.

And not only that...

Its women who really get trampled

This year, however, event organizers are taking added measures to address enduring concerns over women being sexually assaulted during the festival.
It's the latest move by festival planners in responding to a scandal that engulfed the festival after an 18-year-old woman was gang raped at the festival in 2016. The case sparked mass protests and helped ignite a Spanish version of the #MeToo movement, with supporters around Spain adopting the slogan #Cuéntalo, or "tell your story."
At this year's festival police are bolstering surveillance, setting up booths where women can receive resources related to sexual assault and launching a dedicated cellphone app for women to report abuses.
Last month, Spain's Supreme Court sentenced five men – who called themselves "la manada," or "the wolf pack" – to 15 years in prison over the rape.

San Fermin bull festival rape -Telegraph

Throughout the seven days of the annual San Fermin bullfighting festival - which took place last week in Spain - hundreds of alleged sexual assaults were reported.
These range from women being groped to sexual assault and even to rape. There are few statistics to show how widespread this is - especially as many women don't report the incidents - but feminist groups in Navarre (the region the festival takes place in) say they get hundreds of complaints from women attending the Pamplona festival.
It's impossible to deny it's happening.
Most people recognise the 'chupinazo' - the name give to the start of this festival - as the most dangerous time for women. When their tops lift up, or their clothes are ripped as the bulls run by, they're frequently groped.
In the past, photos of this have, unfortunately, gone viral online.
Last week, when this year's festuval began, there were reports of a 19-year-old British woman having been sexually assaulted in a bathroom by six men, before two friends rescued her.
