Telegram is far from an apolitical privacy and security platform.

Therein lies the problem.

Telegram marketed themselves as exactly that. We now see that was a Deception.

I never got a Telegram account because they made it almost impossible for me to use an anonymous phone number to sign up.

Red Flag. Full Stop. Decades of experience taught me to trust my instincts. I instantly grow suspicious and wary at the first tiny sniff of smoke.

I do that because it has paid off big hundreds of times in my business career.

Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, published a Christmas message on January 7, in which he urged users to relax more and communicate less.

"This year, I wish you less information, less food, less entertainment, less communication, less stimulation," Durov wrote on his Telegram channel.

He also wrote that all of the above interferes with peace of mind, health, sleep and creativity.
