PDF versus mobi?

Not sure if it still that way, but my older Kindle can display PDFs that are uploaded directly to it (without using the Kindle software on the computer).

Not mine, and it is a very old Kindle, around 10 years. A senior, poor thing.

Mine too. I just checked and all Kindles after 2008 should support PDFs, but they need to be copied to the correct directory on the Kindle and without using the Kindle software on the computer. There may also be a different way of opening them on the Kindle, not like regular Kindle ebooks.

Oh my god, this seems very complicated.

I use Kindle Apps and use my Kindle Email to send pdf and epub docs to the Kindle "cloud", and Kindle picks it up on all devices where I´m logged in.
I simply download a book in pdf or epub and send it to Kindle email as an attachment.
Perhaps you can do it like that and bypass the Kindle OS? 🤷‍♀️

AI response:
To check your unique Kindle email address for sending documents, go to the Manage Your Content and Devices page on the Amazon website (specifically under the "Preferences" tab -> "Personal Document Settings"). Alternatively, find it directly on your device under Settings > Your Account > Send-to-Kindle Email.

It did not work at all. sorry.
I am checking about other people bumping into the same problem, it seems a recurring one.

I found a person saying this:
Open the PDF in Adobe Reader, print it, but instead of sending it to an actual printer, tell it to print to PDF. This will create a new PDF from the original. It will also be MUCH bigger, but it should be viewable in Kindle.

Creating a new pdf via the "print option", then importing this new pdf into the tablet. Don't know if this work.

I can try, thank you Palestine. You are very gentle.

@loreta

(If possible) when you plug the kindle device into a computer, does the kindle device appear? Like a new "letter", a new disk?

Est-ce que vous parvenez au moins à brancher le Kindle sur un ordinateur?
Et - si oui - quand vous faites cela qu'est-ce qui se passe? Est-ce que ça fait comme une clé USB, avec un nouveau disque - qui apparaît?

Yes.

No problem! It can be that it will be complicated, or not, and we would need to know how things work when you try, to understand where it fails exactly. So sorry it's a bit of a questioning, to know what to suggest you.

So - you see a device on the computer; the idea is to double click on it and go inside, and copy-paste a pdf. But I believe that you already did that. Is it?

Then, if you could try the "print" method, it can be that the new pdf can be read. I don't know. You need to try and tell me if the PDF is "accepted". So, copy paste the new PDF ("print"), via the "drive", on the computer.

If not working, can you check this:

On your Kindle, From the home page click the menu button then select "settings". On , the settings page look at the bottom of the screen if you have version less than 2.3, you need to update to use pdfs on your Kindle.

Can you tell me if you can find that "version number" (and which one it is)?

I will do this later, now I am in a meeting using the camera and I can not put the kindle.
