Photograph of something ultra-terrestrial?

Hi all

I stumbled across this photo about a week ago which I thought was interesting and have just gained the owners permission to post it here. It was on one of my wife's friends' facebook pages. I have blocked out the bottom right of the picture due to nudity in line with the forum guidelines.

If you look at the bush in the top right hand of the picture there is clearly a face there. My wife's friend who took the photo claims that it is definitely not a mask and that there was 'nothing there' at the time the photo was taken and was quite bemused when the it was developed. It's from 1987 in a place called Arambol which is a coastal village in the north of Goa in India.

Interestingly, I've actually been to this exact location myself for an afternoon in 2000. It's a banyan tree about a 10 minute walk into the forest behind one of the two beaches there. I understand that the banyan tree is almost always occupied in the Season and many visitors sleep there for a few days or even weeks and there is usually much consumption of alcohol/hashish and playing of guitars/drums etc.

To me it looks like the archetypal 'Goblin' or 'troll'. Just wondering what others thought of this image....

It looks like some dry vegetation on a bush or some kind of nest to me. I fail to see anything unusual.

You could be right. However, if you have a look at the link above it's alot clearer. The 'face' is clearly a completely different colour from the rest of the bush and seems to stand out from its surroundings somewhat.

I'm open to the fact that it may just be part of the hedge but thought it was defined enough to peak my curiosity.....

Hi Pai !

Strange, it's at least twice the size for me and if I hover over it, a magnifying icon appears and I can make it slightly larger. Perhaps this may work for you....

Well, there's definitely a face there unless I'm going mad although admittedly one that may be accompanied by my over-active imagination

Possibly our brains making a pattern in the leaves where there is none?

Try this: go to the far right of the picture and look for the turquoise blue bag on the ground, move left from it to the white dot, then follow the stick upwards, and the face is right there.

Interesting that most cannot see the shape of a face at all. I may not have noticed it myself only it was tagged on Facebook as 'spooky face'. Oh well, looks like a case where a bush is just a bush! :)
