You all, the team, are doing this, and you all are helping us find our way out, so I can understand why you guys live under such stress and such pain, as you are in the 100% of the time in the bull's eye!
And so may you too, Mr Topi. ;) Because this is a network, and there is no hierarchy, we can all be on the frontline if we choose.

As you say, anyone can be on the frontline if they choose. The question is: do they choose?

The point here is this: we work to make this forum and related websites available for all, and this sometimes costs us a great deal in terms of attack/stress. You would think that the participants/beneficiaries of same would be more interested in helping to keep something going that they enjoy/benefit from.

But again, let me say that we are all feeling just a bit cranky because we've been under incredible stress starting in 2008 with the Pepin suit which was, in my view, the first MAJOR effort to start wearing us down. The attack has been unrelenting since then. On top of that, since early this year, we have had the additional labor of trying to get this house weather-proof so that we don't suffer physically all the time from water and wind coming in, dampness, mold, fungus, and general intolerable working/living conditions. And since we aren't rich, we have to do all the work ourselves. It has been especially intensive since August with almost no rest whatsoever.

So, basically, here we are, dancing as fast as we can on many fronts, and people aren't coming forward to help out as they could in so many way, instead are just playing "spot the difference" games.

We've sent out calls for writers, for people to participate in editing on SOTT, for active participation in many projects, but the response has been less than encouraging. At the end of the day, we sometimes wonder what we are doing it for.

Does that make sense?

Hi Laura,

Is there any central place where the group asks us for help, like possibly a permanent post somewhere?

The reason I ask is because I read SOTT and the forum almost every day but I rarely see ask for help, am I blind?

I personally think there should be a dedicated part of the forum where you can state plainly what you are in need of at that point in time.

Most people probably aren't going to be great writers, however I think most of us are capable of editing, searching and submitting news.

So how can we help right now?

Would Boswellia help with the pain/inflammation? And also Comfrey to help it heal?

Taking boswellia and will be using a comfrey poultice.

Good to hear. Hopefully you'll get immediate relief and long term healing. Probably a good idea to be careful for a while and "nurse" the knee to give it a chance to get better and so that you minimize the chance of "blowing it out" again.

I think I have a diagnosis for my knee, though: "osteochondritis dissecans" which is when fragments of cartilage or bone become loose within a joint. It's much better now; I've been putting pure DMSO on it, keeping it warm, and staying off of it.

I'm glad to hear you are doing better Laura :hug2:!

Yes. :hug2: :hug2: :hug2: Don't give up, or hesitate to tell us when things are bad...it helps light a fire under our butts. :flowers:

and there is always the need for financial support to keep things going, that's the reason why there is a big

button on the upper right corner ;)

And it doesn't need to be at all in English, the Spanish, French and German sites (es.sott.net, de.sott.net or fr.sott.net) also need support or just spreading information in your language via Facebook, Blogs, Twitter…

I found 7. I have to admit I am so much more relaxed right now then I have been all day. I wonder why that is??? Thank you. :D

Hi Gawan

I know about all of those however, I can't translate, don't blog and wouldn't consider myself a writer to the level of current Sott contributors.

I do donate however but I don't think that solves any time issues that the Sott team might have with getting information out, that's why I asked if there was something the average person can help with that's needed right now.

Personally I do spend a lot of time reading and researching, so I could probably do something with that, maybe summerising, maybe forwarding on sites I read.

Any more ideas/requests would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people here would happily fulfill requests for assistance if asked more often on long term and short term tasks.

I think the Sott team needs to state their current needs more often maybe and see how many hands come forward?

I happy to dedicate time every day to help with whatever I can.

Can I ask why you're 'painting yourself into a corner' here? Fwiw I don't think you have to give up trying to contribute via a blog....not all blogs are about writing. Some are videos, pictures, or just comments posted under articles. Point being...you can blog if you don't talk yourself out of it beforehand. :flowers:

I don't think you need to be 'a writer to the level of current Sott contributors' to do that.

I've been thinking a lot of using the exercises from the book "Redirect" to work around the negative self narrative that you've summed up in your first sentence above:
"I know about all of those, however, I can't translate, don't blog, and wouldn't consider myself a writer to the level of current Sott contributors."

Why not start there and see where it takes you? If enough of us pull that cork out of our heads, things may start to turn around....?

Hi Gimpy,

Not painting my self in a corner per se, just trying to be realistic in offering assistance.

May I ask how you yourself personally contribute or anyone else for that matter? (Might give some ideas not known.)

I honestly worry from time to time that this group of people are doing ok as much happens behind the scenes that we don't see.

Personally I'm planning on contributing more financially asap, though I wanted a response from the Sott team how we can all practically help with their workload.

I concur. Maybe it is what Laura meant with this:

For example sott or the trans group does not only exist about writing focus articles or translating per se there are many other things going on in the background, be it editing, posting, proof reading, searching for articles, formatting…: learning new things.

This I think is what Franco is asking about. How to be of direct help to SOTT, even though one doesn't yet have the ability/confidence/knowledge to write pieces.

Didn't I just do that with what I posted? ;D

Its easy to forget just how busy the Chateaus Crew is, and an added burden is having to maintain Strategic Enclosure to keep the day to day running smooth. They are living under a microscope, and can't always share everything. (osit)

I do get frustrated that I'm not able to do more to directly help the Fellowship, that is why I jumped and read 'Redirect', and picked up a few of the other psychology books. I like to write, and no I don't consider my writing up to Sott standards either, but I'm no longer willing to sit here and think "I'm not good enough" anymore. ;)

Make sense?

I don't think we need to have a list per se, just look at what the Crew has asked for and "Make it Work."

I think that's great advice. And I think that one can always practice with one's writing skills, and observe how others write, what writing styles peaks people interests, learn from one's mistakes/learn from feedback etc. in order to develop one's skills in this area.

One other thing you can think about is distributing flyers of the Dot Connector Magazine. You can send a PM to one of the moderators in which you mention this and your e-mail, so that the lay-out of the flyer can be sent to you. Then you can send the pdf file to a professional printing company so that they can print some copies for you in the right format. You can also think about asking grass-fed companies for flyers to distribute, this way you could help spread the word of the healthy benefits of grass-fed meat and support those companies/farms. You can for example put the flyers in organic stores or health food stores etc. Another thing you can think about is trying to get QFS books in libraries or bookstores in your country. Fwiw.
